After the conclusion of the third T20I between hosts Pakistan and Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Tariq shared an Instagram update hinting that the two cricketers have patched things up following his bowling action controversy.
On February 3, a viral video circulating on X officially unveiled Cameron Green personally apologizing to the Pakistani spinner during the customary handshake between the players after the final T20I of the tour.
Cameron Green and Usman Tariq hug and patch up
Pakistan crushed Australia by 111 runs on February 1 to complete a 3-0 sweep in the three-match T20I series. After the match during the customary players handshake, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green approached Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq for a seemingly playful conversation.
The two cricketers shared a smile, and shook hands with each other to mark a moment that appeared to underline reconciliation and an apology from Cameron Green to Usman Tariq.

What happened between Cameron Green and Usman Tariq
A major controversy broke out between Cameron Green and Usman Tariq during the Australian run chase in the second T20I of the tour on January 31. Chasing 199 in Lahore, Green at number three raced to 35* off 19 balls before he handed a simple catch to Shadab Khan at point off Tariq.
As the Australian all-rounder was making his way back to the sheds, the cricketer mimicked Usman Tariq’s controversial bowling action and implied that the cricketer is chucking.
Cameron Green’s reaction sparked a wave of some strong reactions, especially from Pakistan cricket fans who defended Tariq considering the cricketer’s bowling action has been officially cleared by the ICC.
Former Australian opener and Green’s ex-teammate Usman Khawaja also spoke in support of the Pakistan spinner.
As it turned out, a day after the controversy, Usman Tariq shared an Instagram update where he wrote: “apology accepted”, thus implying that the two cricketers had already patched up before the recent video went viral on social media.
Pakistan vs Australia 2026 T20I series
Pakistan crushed Australia with convincing margins in each of the three games to wrap up the series 3-0. In the third T20I, Pakistan batted first and mounted 207-6 in 20 overs.
Saim Ayub top-scored with 56 off 37 and senior pro Babar Azam also soared back into form with a stroke-filled half-century. Shadab Khan blasted 46 off 19 balls at the death to serve Pakistan’s slog-overs fury.
In response, Australia folded up for just 96 in 16.5 overs. Cameron Green and Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 20s each before both hard-hitting all-rounders were cleaned up by Mohammad Nawaz. The Pakistani spinner picked up five wickets in the innings to claim sensational figures of 5-18.
Controversial figure Usman Tariq, interestingly, was rested from the match.
Both Australia and Pakistan will now march into the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka later this week.
