Virat Kohli, the superstar of Indian cricket, recently guided RCB to an emphatic victory by scoring a century in the IPL 2026 clash against KKR. After his vintage knock, Kohli was urged to drop his retirement plan.

On a tricky surface in Raipur, Kohli channelled his vintage self and proved again why he is called the chase master. His 105* off 60 balls knock guided RCB to the 193-run chase with five balls to spare.

Dwayne Bravo is in awe of Virat Kohli

From ball one to the last ball of the second innings, Virat Kohli stood on the crease to ensure RCB faced no hiccups in the chase. He naturally won the Player of the Match award for his heroics.

Meanwhile, apart from the fans, even the opposition was in awe of Kohli. After the game, KKR coach Dwayne Bravo walked into RCB’s dressing room to congratulate Kohli in person.

He gave a warm hug to the 37-year-old and urged him to play as long as possible because the game of cricket needs gems like him. That heartwarming moment was caught on camera and instantly went viral on social media.

Bravo, despite being on the losing side, couldn’t contain his excitement seeing Virat Kohli bat at his absolute best. That acknowledgement is what defines true sportsmanship in cricket.

Kohli nowhere close to IPL retirement

That being said, the talks of retirement around Virat Kohli began when he quit T20Is in 2024 and Tests in 2025. He is currently playing the ODI format for India as he apparently wishes to play the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Meanwhile, as far as IPL goes, Kohli has been the backbone for RCB for the last 19 years. He gave up captaincy in 2021 before RCB won its first-ever IPL title in 2025 under Rajat Patidar’s leadership.

This year, Kohli is in his best form, scoring 484 runs in 12 games at a 53.78 average and 165.75 strike rate. He is placed third in the Orange Cap race, while RCB topped the points table after a victory over KKR.

Hence, by no means does Virat Kohli appear to be considering retirement. After his century at Raipur, he clearly stated that his hunger for runs and love for the game have not died.

Virat Kohli achieves 14000 T20 runs

Meanwhile, with that century against KKR in IPL 2026, RCB star Virat Kohli achieved a major personal milestone. He surpassed 14000 T20 runs and became the fastest player to reach the feat.

It was also his 10th T20 century, which is the most among Indian players in the format. Not only that, Kohli matched Jos Buttler to score the most IPL hundreds (3) while chasing.

Needless to say, the year 2026 has started off on a good note for Virat Kohli. He is peaking at the right time, and if the 37-year-old maintains the sublime form, RCB will be favourites to retain their IPL title this year.
