During the IPL 2026 clash between RCB and KKR, Virat Kohli displayed his vintage form by hitting a classic century to guide his team home. However, during the game, he playfully imitated an unorthodox shot and passed a savage comment.

Kohli became RCB’s anchor in a 193-run chase on a tricky Raipur surface. He looked in sublime touch and showed glimpses of his vintage self. More than anything, the 37-year-old was enjoying his time in the middle.

That being said, during the second innings, Virat Kohli was seen hilariously enacting a reverse scoop gesture while chatting in the middle. Normally, Kohli is not someone who would go for sweep or scoop shots.

However, against KKR in the IPL, he was itching to try something unorthodox. Also, he seemed confident of pulling it off, saying that since he is not playing for India anymore, the shot would connect.

"Ab india k liye thodi na khelna h ab to har shot lagega," Kohli said.

This reflected on the freedom Kohli enjoys in franchise cricket compared to the pressure and responsibility that come with playing for India. For context, the star batter retired from T20Is after India’s 2024 T20 World Cup victory.

Regardless, Virat Kohli did not attempt that shot, as he was in full control of the chase. He scored a century (105) and stayed unbeaten to wrap up the game with 5 balls to spare.

Kohli shatters records with century vs KKR

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli broke many records with his century against KKR in IPL 2026. He completed 14000 T20 runs in 409 innings, thus becoming the fastest player to achieve this feat.

Not only that, Kohli’s unbeaten 105 became the highest individual T20 score recorded in Raipur. He also became the first player in IPL history to score a century immediately after two consecutive ducks.

Also, Kohli equalled Jos Buttler’s record for most IPL hundreds while chasing targets. Another major milestone was his partnership with Devdutt Padikkal. The duo registered their 10th fifty-plus stand in IPL cricket.

Virat Kohli also became the most-capped player in IPL history with his 279th appearance. The knock pushed him back into the Orange Cap race as well.

RCB back at the top of the table

Defending champions RCB delivered a complete performance to beat KKR at Raipur. KKR, owing to Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s half-century and Rinku Singh’s 49, reached 192 runs at the end of the first 20 overs.

In the chase, however, RCB lost Jacob Bethell early. Regardless, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal stitched a 92-run partnership to stabilise the innings. Kohli then took the game single-handedly, scoring 105* off 60 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes.

RCB completed the chase in 19.1 overs to climb to the top of the points table with 8 wins in 12 games. On the other hand, KKR dropped to the 8th spot, and their playoff qualification odds are very slim.
