KKR lost their latest IPL 2026 clash against defending champions RCB by 6 wickets. With that, they dropped down to the bottom three of the points table as their playoff qualification odds took a massive hit.

In a rain-hit game at Raipur, KKR did their best in the first innings to put up a decent total of 192 runs. However, Virat Kohli took the game away from them in the second innings with a stunning century and comfortably led RCB to an emphatic victory.

How can KKR qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs?

Meanwhile, despite suffering from their sixth loss of the season, KKR are still mathematically alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race, though their path to the top four has become extremely difficult.

KKR have 3 league matches remaining, meaning they can fetch a maximum of 6 points if they win all the upcoming fixtures. That means KKR can only finish with a maximum of 15 points, which puts them in a dangerous position because the teams above them are already at 16 points currently.

Firstly, KKR almost certainly need to win all remaining 3 matches and also improve their NRR significantly. If they lose even one more game, the maximum tally would become 13 points, and playoff qualification would be virtually impossible.

Apart from that, KKR need several teams above them to collapse late in the tournament. An ideal scenario for KKR would be that PBKS lose at least 2 of the remaining games, CSK and RR finish on 14 points or lower, DC do not go beyond 14, and SRH slip badly.

Ultimately, anything less than 3 wins from 3 will almost certainly end KKR’s IPL 2026 playoff hopes.

What are KKR’s remaining games in IPL 2026?

That being said, to produce a miracle, KKR will get three more chances in the IPL 2026 season. After the RCB game, Kolkata will face the Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens on May 16.

After that, KKR will host the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals on May 20 and 24, respectively. Interestingly, all their remaining fixtures will be hosted at their home ground in Kolkata, meaning the home condition advantage will work in their favour.
