In a significant development, star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s nephew, Aryaveer Kohli, was picked in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 auction.
The 16-year-old batter was bought by Central Delhi Kings for ₹1.2 lakh after entering the auction in the lowest Category C bracket.
Aryaveer, who was previously part of the South Delhi Superstars, had a base price of ₹1 lakh. Central Delhi Kings secured his services with a ₹20,000 increase over his previous auction value.
Who is Aryaveer Kohli?
Aryaveer Kohli is the nephew of former India captain Virat Kohli and has been progressing through Delhi’s cricket system. He is the son of Virat's elder brother, Vikas Kohli.
The 16-year-old is a leg spinner trained under Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Virat Kohli. Unlike his uncle, Aryaveer was more inclined towards spin bowling.
He is now developing into an all-rounder, and DPL happens to be his big break at just 16 years of age. While his family name brought him into the spotlight, the teenager is keen on making a name of his own.
For now, expectations around him are naturally high because of the Kohli connection, but his real challenge will be proving himself through performances on the field.

The Sehwag clan also grabbed a deal
Interestingly, another famous cricket family name also appeared during the DPL 2026 auction. Aaryavir Sehwag, son of legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag, was picked by West Delhi Lions for ₹3 lakh.
The youngster was part of the Category B pool, which includes Delhi’s U23, U19 and U16 players. Aaryavir, an opener just like his father, made his DPL debut in 2025 for Central Delhi Kings.
In his short stint, he impressed the fans with his promising talent and skill set. However, in DPL 2026, expectations will be high for the 18-year-old, as his father’s legacy will add weight to his shoulders.
Tejaswi Dahiya headlines DPL 2026 auction
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Tejaswi Dahiya became one of the biggest buys of the DPL 2026 auction. He was sold to Outer Delhi Warriors for ₹40 lakh, but South Delhi Superstarz used the RTM option to bring him back.
Apart from him, Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav was also sold to East Delhi Riders for ₹17 lakh. Purani Dilli 6 tried to buy Himmat Singh for ₹38 lakh, but New Delhi Tigers used their RTM card to retain him.
Vansh Bedi, who created buzz after joining CSK in the IPL, was bought by Central Delhi Kings for ₹21 lakh. Digvesh Rathi’s market value saw a dip as he went to Purani Dilli 6 for ₹11 lakh.
Having said that, the DPL 2026 season will kick off on July 31 and run till August 30. All games are likely to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
