Did Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Eat Banned Substance? [Source: X]
In yet another social media frenzy, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was accused of consuming a banned substance during dinner. However, the reality of the viral claim turned out to be something else.
Sooryavanshi received his maiden India call-up after a stellar IPL 2026 campaign where he scored nearly 800 runs. He toured Ireland for the team’s two-game T20I series but failed to make a debut.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is accused of eating beef
Meanwhile, since Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is currently dominating headlines, some social media users are misusing his name to steal fame. In one such viral claim circulating on Twitter, a user based in Pakistan named @Sher__Ali posted a picture of Sooryavanshi having dinner.
However, he claimed that the kid was consuming non-vegetarian food, preferably beef, which is a banned substance in Hindu culture. The Pakistani fan accused Vaibhav of hurting religious sentiments.
But Indian fans quickly busted the fake claim. Fans dug out the original and unedited post to clear the air. In reality, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was having a normal dinner, as his plate had no traces of any meat whatsoever, let alone beef.
These claims were circulated with edited images just to malign the kid’s reputation and gain clout in his name. Such practices are not uncommon in this social media age. However, targeting a teenager is a new low.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi denied an international debut
Having said that, fans were left disappointed as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi failed to make his international debut during the two-game T20I series against Ireland.
The management explained that while they value the kid’s talent, it's also important to respect the seniors who have been in good form. Hence, Sanju Samson played ahead of him as an opener.
However, India didn’t yield any positive result by snubbing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Samson scored 5 and 0 in the two games, and India lost their first-ever bilateral series against Ireland.
The defeat also broke India’s long series-winning streak in the T20I format as the captaincy era of Shreyas Iyer began on a horrific note.
Will Sooryavanshi get a chance in England?
Having said that, the next assignment for India is to tour England for a 5-game T20I series beginning on July 1st. After a whitewash against Ireland, fans are speculating about some changes in the playing XI.
And naturally, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the first in line for a potential debut. However, the management appears keen on backing Sanju Samson since he performed exceptionally well in the T20 World Cup 2026 knockouts.
Also, the veteran wicketkeeper had a successful IPL 2026 campaign with CSK. Hence, for now, Vaibhav’s India debut appears unlikely. Still, the kid has a long way to go. The series is long, and his fate can change any day.
