Tragedy hit Rinku Singh's family on Friday morning as the India star lost his father, who breathed his last last on February 27. Khanchand Singh was battling stage-four cancer and passed away in a hospital in Aligarh. The cricketing fraternity expressed their condolences and the latest to stand in solidarity with the southpaw is Virat Kohli.

The former India captain took to Twitter where he paid his respect to Rinku's father and wrote a special message for the KKR star batter.

Virat Kohli Tweets For Rinku Singh's Father

"Deeply saddened by the news of Rinku’s father’s demise. My heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. May you always find strength in his eternal blessings. Om Shanti," tweeted Virat Kohli.

Rinku Singh Unlikely To Be Available For West Indies Clash

For the unversed, Rinku Singh left the Indian camp on Friday morning and is unlikely to be available for selection against West Indies on Sunday, March 1 which is a do-or-die game.

The last rites were conducted on Friday, February 27, but still there is no update on whether Rinku would stay back with his family in this difficult time or return to the Indian camp and play the rest of the tournament.

Notably, Rinku had also left the Indian camp two days before Zimbabwe clash when he heard that his father's health deteriorated. However, the southpaw returned to the team a day before the game but still was kept out of the team and Sanju Samson was presented an opportunity back at the top.

Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar Too Felt The Same Pain

Virat Kohli extended his support to Rinku Singh as he himself felt the same pain twenty years ago. Notably, the RCB star lost his father due to brain stroke on December 18, 2006. The right-handed batter was playing in Ranji Trophy for Delhi, when his teammates were shocked to see him return to bat despite a big tragedy back home.

Virat lost his father early in the morning, but still returned to bat on the day of demise. Following his dismissal, the India star returned home and his father was cremated in the evening.

Similarly, Sachin Tendulkar dealt the same pain during 1999 World Cup when his father breathed his last and the India star returned home for the final rites. Notably, Sachin was in England for the tournament and still returned to the competition and scored a century, dedicating it to his father.

Being a cricketer is quite tough because prioritising the sport over crisis and losing a loved one is an extremely tough decision. Legends have done it in the past and eyes are now on Rinku Singh on which option will he choose. Talking about his 2026 T20 World Cup performance, he has scored just 24 runs in five innings.
