In heartbreaking news for Indian fans, Rinku Singh's father dies after battling Stage 4 cancer, leaving the young cricketer and his family in deep sorrow. The sad incident comes at a crucial time, as the Indian team is currently playing in the T20 World Cup 2026.
Rinku Singh’s father, Khanchand Singh, passed away at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida after fighting stage four liver cancer. He had been admitted to the hospital for several days and was under strict medical supervision.

However, as his health worsened, doctors placed him on a ventilator. He was also undergoing continuous renal replacement therapy to support his failing organs. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he could not survive.
The news was confirmed by former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, who expressed his heartfelt condolences and prayers for the grieving family. Meanwhile, Rinku, who was with the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, had already been dealing with his father’s serious health condition.

Earlier this week, when his father’s condition became critical, Rinku Singh left the team camp before India’s Super 8 match against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Although he managed to return before the game, he was not included in the playing XI. Instead, Sanju Samson was chosen for the match.
Even though he did not play, Rinku stayed involved with the squad and even came onto the field as a substitute.

However, after receiving the devastating news that Rinku Singh's father dies after battling Stage 4 cancer, the 28-year-old cricketer immediately left the team camp again. According to India Today, he has now travelled back to Aligarh to be with his family during this painful time. The last rites of his father will be performed in Aligarh, and Rinku will attend the funeral.
Notably, Rinku, who comes from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, has often spoken about how much his father supported his cricket dreams. His father worked in gas cylinder distribution and faced many financial struggles.
Despite these hardships, he stood firmly behind his son’s ambition to become a professional cricketer. Because of that strong support, Rinku was able to rise through the ranks and eventually represent India on the international stage.
Uncertainty over Rinku Singh’s availability
Although the Indian team is focused on the T20 World Cup 2026, this personal tragedy has deeply affected the squad. So far in the tournament, Rinku has played five matches and scored 24 runs in his role as a finisher. While his numbers may seem modest, his presence in the team has been valuable.
