Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Receives 'Best Ever After Sachin Tendulkar' Recognition

Indian teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has received one of the biggest compliments in cricket after Rajasthan Royals official compared him to Sachin Tendulkar. The 15-year-old batter has become one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2026 because of his fearless batting and record-breaking performances.

Ever since Sooryavanshi entered the IPL, he has continuously impressed fans and experts with his attacking style. 

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Dominates In IPL

While many young players take time to settle, the youngster has shown confidence against some of the best bowlers in the world. From Jasprit Bumrah to Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sooryavanshi has played attacking shots against every major bowler without fear.

In just 10 matches this season, the teenage batter has already scored 404 runs, including a stunning 36-ball century against SRH. Because of these performances, reports suggest that he could soon receive his first India call-up during the upcoming T20I tour of Ireland in June.

Rajasthan Royals Reveal Discovery Story

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals officials recently shared how they discovered the young star before the IPL 2025 mega auction. 

In “A SCOOP EXCLUSIVE” with Wisden, Rajasthan Royals Director of High Performance Zubin Bharucha explained how the franchise immediately realized Sooryavanshi was a special talent.

Bharucha revealed that the team even changed their auction strategy after watching him bat during trials. According to reports, Rajasthan Royals reserved Rs 10 crore after their scouts saw the youngster play.

The RR official also recalled the first time Sooryavanshi attended the Royals camp. He explained that the teenager impressed everyone from the very first ball.

“It is absolutely surreal. Interestingly, if I go back to a lot of great players that I have worked with and seen, Sanju Samson, for example, played the first ball for six," Bharucha said.

“Jaiswal flicked it over his shoulder and then Vaibhav walked in. This was the first ball again, but the ball before that, there was a right-hander on strike. And this left-arm seamer was bowling sharp inswingers," Bharucha added.

RR Official Compares Vaibhav Sooryavanshi To Sachin Tendulkar

Bharucha further revealed that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi looked comfortable against every type of bowler during the trials. The teenager continued to dominate bowlers with his clean hitting and confidence.

“I knew straightaway and I immediately sent a message to the CEO saying that we have got something completely generational here. He is the best player I have seen since Sachin Tendulkar," Bharucha said.

The comparison with Sachin Tendulkar is being seen as one of the biggest recognitions for the 15-year-old cricketer. Notably, Sachin Tendulkar himself entered international cricket at a very young age after showing extraordinary talent in Mumbai cricket. Similarly, Sooryavanshi has now created a strong reputation through age-group cricket and the IPL.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Gets Praised By Fellow Cricketers

Sooryavanshi has also received praise from other cricketers who witnessed his talent closely. Quadri, while speaking to Wisden, shared his experience of bowling to the youngster in Patna.

“I had seen him in Patna. I was playing a match and had heard a lot about him. ‘There is a boy, there is a kid who plays amazingly well.’ So I got to see him when I bowled to him," Quadri said.

“And I saw the talent there because I am a leg-spinner who knows how to bowl to left-handers. And he (Sooryavanshi) whacked me over the covers. That was amazing. Those skills were amazing," Quadri added.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will next be seen in action for Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans on Saturday, May 9.
