Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Left Heartbroken As Chama Milind Halts His Duleep Trophy Final Carnage

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started the Duleep Trophy 2026 final with a bang, but his hara-kiri was cut short courtesy of South Zone's Chama Milind.

Sooryavanshi, alongside Abhimanyu Easwaran, attacked Mohammed Siraj in his opening spell to get going. The duo not only got East Zone off to a flying start but also complemented each other brilliantly, with the two openers known for completely different approaches.

As a result, East Zone completed 100 runs inside 15 overs, but the Tilak Varma-led side saw Sooryavanshi back on the exact triple-digit mark.

The 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi grandly started the Duleep Trophy final, smacking the bowlers around the park. It resulted in skipper Tilak Varma parking five of his fielders near the ropes in the eighth over of the match.

Sooryavanshi smacked five boundaries and a biggie during his blitz, but Chama Milind trapped him on 44 runs.

In his third over, the left-arm medium pacer bowled a brilliant short of a length delivery, angled into the batter, from just outside off-stump. 

Bowled well on his weakness, Sooryavanshi couldn't do much but got a top edge after getting cramped on a pull shot. Later, the fielder in front of square took a good catch to see the swashbuckler's back.

Who is Chama Milind?

Hailing from Hyderabad, the 32-year-old Chama Milind is a workhorse who made his first-class debut back in 2023 at the age of 19. Since then, he has played 56 FC matches, taking 137 wickets at an average of 30.76. Moreover, the left-arm quick has featured in 57 List-A and 82 T20 matches, scalping 225 wickets across white-ball formats.

His domestic performances may not have gotten him the fame, but they didn’t go unaddressed. Over the years, Milind has been with SRH, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and, quite recently, RCB in 2022, although he has yet to make his debut in the IPL.

Meanwhile, after missing the Duleep Trophy semifinal vs North Zone, Chama Milind replaced Kavuri Saiteja. Meanwhile, South Zone made three more changes to their playing XI, with the blockbuster inclusion of Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Siraj.

Recently, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his Duleep Trophy debut against North East Zone. But he had a Sooryavanshi-esque outing vs Central Zone by becoming the youngest batter to score a half-century in the tournament's history. 

Against the Rajat Patidar-led side, the teenager blasted an 81-ball 92 & 40 in the two innings to make it count, taking his team to the Duleep Trophy 2026 final. 

Meanwhile, in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final, he missed breaking Prithvi Shaw’s record of being the youngest half-centurion in the tournament’s final. That said, Sooryavanshi can surpass the Mumbaikar in the following innings.
