Harmanpreet Kaur Treats Pakistan Like Suryakumar Yadav

The Women's Asia Cup 2026 match between India and Pakistan ended with the former securing a comfortable seven-wicket win over their arch-rivals. While doing so, Harmanpreet Kaur made a gesture reminiscent of the Indian men's team when Suryakumar Yadav, the then captain of the team, was alongside Shivam Dube.

The men's duo, too, performed a similar act that was a strong and stern statement against Pakistan after defeating them.

For the unaware, Pakistan Women came into bat first in Dubai on September 5 and were bundled out for just 55 runs, their lowest total in T20Is, courtesy of solid bowling efforts from Prema Rawat and Shree Charani.

India Women took good care of the target, chasing down 56 runs, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur being the highest scorer alongside an unbeaten Deepti Sharma, who saw the game through to the end.

To show respect and sportsmanship, players immediately shake hands and greet each other cordially after a match ends. Regardless of which team wins, players from both sides shake hands or acknowledge each other on the field after a match to encourage healthy sporting spirits.

The Indian players have refrained from interacting with their Pakistani counterparts in the aftermath of the Pakistan-sponsored Pahalgam terror attack, which prompted the Indian forces to launch the Operation Sindoor in May 2025.

So, after striking a beautiful six over Nashra Sandhu's head to seal a statement win, Harmanpreet Kaur immediately turned her back towards the Pakistan players and left the field alongside Deepti Sharma without turning back or greeting the Pakistan women's team.

Harmanpreet's Move Reminiscent of Suryakumar Yadav's Gesture Against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025

Suryakumar, alongside Shivam Dube, finished off a group-stage match against Pakistan in Dubai on September 14, 2025. That encounter was marked by severe unrest and chaotic drama after SKY decided not to shake hands with his Pakistan counterpart during the toss.

After the fiasco regarding the toss was settled, India won the match by chasing down a target of 128 runs, with Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube remaining unbeaten.

The captain scored a 37-ball 47, and the reason it seems exactly like Harmanpreet Kaur mirrored Suryakumar is the manner in which Suryakumar finished the game.

From a delivery by Sufiyan Muqeem in the 16th over, SKY cleared his front leg to meet a short ball outside off, hammering it over midwicket for a six. As the match ended in style, Suryakumar Yadav turned his back towards the Pakistan team and walked off with Shivam Dube without any customary greeting to the Pakistan players.

For the unaware, this behaviour from the Indian team was due to a protest they were willing to put up on the cricket field following the Pahalgam terror attack that took place in April 2025.

Harmanpreet and Suryakumar Yadav Face No Guilt Of Abuse

It is also important to note that SKY or Harmanpreet Kaur's gestures were not offensive, since they did not hurt or harm any player or their sentiments through abusive language, coarse gestures, or anything else.

They simply skipped the customary or mandatory cordial gesture that players often exchange between themselves.

Hence, since they merely denied their counterparts a handshake and walked off the field, there should not be any disciplinary measure imposed on them after the match by the apex council.
