Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been rocking the IPL 2026 with his bat. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi has slammed 404 runs in 10 games, with a strike rate of 237, and has hit one century and two fifties in the tournament.
Thanks to his exploits and the brilliance of their other players, Rajasthan Royals are at the 4th spot in the IPL 2026 points table. They have played 10 games and won 6 matches and lost 4 games. RR has 12 points to their name, and their net run rate is 0.510.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s brilliance in the Indian Premier League
The 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been in terrific form since his debut in IPL 2025 as a 14-year-old. Sooryavanshi had made his IPL debut in 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants and had hit Shardul Thakur for a six on the first ball he faced in the IPL.
Things got better for Sooryavanshi when he became the youngest batter in T20s and IPL to hit a century in the Indian Premier League. He hit a 35-ball century for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, which was the second fastest-ever century in the IPL and the fastest by an Indian.

Sooryavanshi’s bat keeps runs flowing in IPL 2026 as well
Many thought that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi would find it difficult in IPL 2026 due to second-season blues; however, Sooryavanshi has managed to do better in IPL 2026. He became the fastest in terms of balls and youngest ever to score 400 runs in a single edition of IPL, and his bat is yet to stop flowing runs.
He has managed one century, a 36-ball effort against Sunrisers Hyderabad and has hit two fifties as well.
Sooryavanshi has done so well that there are calls from fans and even several former and even current cricketers for his inclusion in the Indian team. Even reports have stated that Vaibhav might be included in the Indian squad for the upcoming two-T20I series in Ireland and probably for the series in England.
Ambati Rayudu calls Vaibhav Sooryavanshi better than Virat Kohli
Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu appeared on ESPNCricinfo’s segment of choosing his favorite cricketer from the given options. He first selected Shubman Gill over KL Rahul, then Prabhsimran Singh of PBKS over the GT captain.
Given that he picked him over Ajinkya Rahane, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and even RR's Yashasvi Jaiswal, it appeared at one time that the new Punjabi star was his favorite batter these days. Prabhsimran Singh was passed up for his teammate Priyansh Arya by Rayudu.
It's interesting to note that the former CSK batter chose Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, RR's newest phenomenon, above the famous Virat Kohli. Rayudu chose SRH's Abhishek Sharma as his ultimate favorite batter this season, even though he also chose the 15-year-old over Sanju Samson.

Ambati Rayudu appointed Head of Cricket Operations for the Hyderabad Cricket Association
Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu has begun his career in cricket administration, as he was appointed as the Head of Cricket Operations for the Hyderabad Cricket Association on May 5. He has been appointed for a period of three years.
Rayudu revealed that he aims to form a center of excellence for Hyderabad cricketers on the lines of the BCCI Center of Excellence. He also wanted to put player welfare above anything and hence wants to implement the Mumbai Cricket Association’s contract model in Hyderabad so that players get better pay.
