Pakistan Cricket is always in the limelight for several controversies, along with poor performances. Recently, the team became the talk of the town again after two heavy defeats against England during the ongoing tour.
Amid the growing concerns related to Pakistan’s performance, former Australia batter Usman Khawaja has spoken about the his possibility of coaching Pakistan.
His comments also came after the PCB made several major changes to the Test squad for the PAK vs ENG third Test at Birmingham.
It is important to mention that Pakistan lost the first Test by an innings and 103 runs in Leeds before suffering a 194-run defeat at Lord’s. Their batting has been a major concern, with the team failing to score 200 in any of its four innings in the series so far.
Usman Khawaja Calls For Stability In Pakistan Cricket
Usman Khawaja has followed Pakistan cricket closely because of his family roots and has previously spoken about the problems within the team.
According to the Australia star, frequent changes in the coaching staff, selectors and players have made it difficult for Pakistan to build a stable and steady setup.
"I find the Pakistani cricket team, and I say this, it always seems like it's forever changing. Like the coaches forever changing, the selectors are forever changing. There's no stability in Pakistan cricket. The stability needs to be found from the top. It feels like Pakistan's like, always players coming in and out" Usman Khawaja said.
"If there was a bit more stability in the future and stuff like that, you kind of contemplate it. I feel like if I do it in the Pakistani cricket team I'll be there one minute, then out the next". he added [Backward Point Podcast].

What Are The Massive Changes Pakistan Made Amid The England Test Series?
The Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB has responded to Pakistan's poor performances by making major changes ahead of the third Test.
As many as seven players have been released from the squad. They include Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
The coaching setup has also undergone changes. Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul have been released, while white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and bowling coach Ashley Noffke are set to take charge for the third Test.
Usman Khawaja's Pakistan Roots
It is worth noting that Usman Khawaja was born in Islamabad, Pakistan, before moving to Australia with his family at a young age. He later became one of Australia’s leading Test batters and made history in 2011 when he became the first Muslim to represent Australia in Test cricket.
He made his Test debut for Australia during the 2011 Sydney Ashes Test against England, replacing the injured Ricky Ponting.
Usman Khawaja retired from international cricket on January 8, 2026, after playing his final Test match during the 5th Ashes Test at the SCG.
Taking a look at his career, he has featured for Australia in 88 Tests, making 6229 runs at an average of 42.95 and a strike rate of 48.82. In the ODI format, Khawaja has made 1554 runs in 40 matches at an average of 42.00 and a strike rate of 84.09.
In the shortest format of the game, Usman Khawaja has played 9 T20I matches and contributed 241 runs at an average of 26.77 and a strike rate of 132.41.
How Has Usman Khawaja Trolled Or Mocked Pakistan Earlier?
Usman Khawaja has spoken out against the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB several times.
After PCB director Aaqib Javed said people were laughing at Pakistan's poor performance, Khawaja replied - “The world is laughing harder now.” Earlier, when the PCB complained to Sky Sports about an interview with Imran Khan's sons during the Lord’s Test, Khawaja reacted and stated - “This has got to be a joke.”
Khawaja also criticised reports that Pakistan players could face financial penalties after a poor 2026 T20 World Cup campaign. He questioned why players should be fined for bad results on the field and said the decision was shocking, criticising the PCB.
