The three-match Test series between England and New Zealand is levelled at 1-1. The Three Lions started the series with a win, but suffered a heavy defeat in the 2nd Test. The caravan now moves to Nottingham, where Trent Bridge will host the final match of the series.

Ben Stokes returns to lead the side for England as the series is on line and so is the WTC final qualification. England have not had an ideal WTC cycle. Talking about the current cycle, England are placed 7th and a defeat would end their chances to qualify for the final.

For New Zealand, the 3rd Test is equally important because the Kiwis are placed 4th on the WTC table. Talking about the 2nd Test, the Blackcaps bounced back strongly to level the series.

In the 2nd Test, New Zealand, batting first, put 391 runs on the board, courtesy of a maiden Test century from Glenn Phillips. In reply, Matt Henry’s fifer restricted England to just 291 runs, giving New Zealand a good 100-run lead.

In the 2nd innings, Henry Nichollas justified his selection and slammed a well-deserved century. His knock helped New Zealand put 362 runs on the board, giving England a whopping target of 462. Again, Matt Henry picked up six wickets to rattle the hosts, and England tumbled for just 209 runs.

So, ahead of the much-awaited England vs New Zealand 3rd Test, let's take a look at the Trent Bridge pitch report and London's weather update.

Trent Bridge is one of the best batting pitches in England. UK is not known for batting friendly surfaces, but out of all, Trent Bridge is the best chance for the batters to flex their muscles.

It will be a high-scoring game but it does not mean that the bowlers will not be effective. The seamers will have substantial movement early on, but once the ball gets old, the straighter boundaries and quick outfield will help the batters.

The spinners will come onto play on Day 4 and Day 5 once the pitch gets old. Talking about the stats, the team that bats first have won 25 matches, while the team batting second have won 18 matches.

Batting second is tough at Trent Bridge because of spinners coming into play. Hence, the team that wins the toss should look to bat first.
