The former New Zealand captain replaced fellow ‘Black Caps’ legend Brendon McCullum, after England lost its home Test series to a visiting New Zealand side a couple of months ago.As of now, Fleming’s tenure as England Test coach will begin later this year when the Englishmen will travel to South Africa for a three-match series in December and January. Before commencing his duties, the former New Zealand cricketer has now revealed his ultimate goal for the England cricket team. Against Australia, England barely managed to level its home Ashes series back in 2023 by a 2-2 margin. In late-2025 and early 2026 this year, Ben Stokes and co. were blown away by hosts Australia by a 1-4 margin. Yet to win a single Ashes series since 2015, England will now once again host Australia for a fresh Ashes next year. The greatest thing for a team to do is to be able to play conditions and situations. I'd love people to say we are well-planned, there's a discipline and a really strong basic structure to what we're doing, but there's also a bit of flair.”England will now face South Africa in an away three-match Test series later this year.
