Since its inception in 2008, IPL has emerged as the biggest cricketing fest for the cricketers across the globe. The most expensive and lucrative franchise league’s popularity can be underscored by the fact that most of the major cricket events come to a pause during the IPL window. 

Apart from the rise of Indian talent, the league’s 19-year journey across 18 seasons has witnessed many sensational overseas players who graced it with their outstanding performances for more than a decade.

5 Overseas Batters with most matches in IPL History

5. Dwayne Bravo - 161 Matches 

One of the great Caribbean all-rounders, Dwayne Bravo represented three franchises, the Mumbai Indians, CSK, and the Gujarat Lions, in his 14-year IPL career over 15 editions. In his illustrious IPL career, Bravo featured in 161 games, including 30 matches for MI, 15 for Gujarat Lions, and 116 for CSK. 

In his 161-game IPL journey, Bravo picked 183 wickets in 158 innings, including two four-wicket hauls. With the bat, he scored 1560 runs in 113 innings, hitting five half-centuries. He ranks fifth in the list of the five overseas players with the most matches in IPL history. 

4. David Warner - 184 Matches

The former Aussie opener and SRH’s IPL-winning captain, David Warner, ended his IPL career as one of the legends in the league’s history. He made his debut in the 2009 season, representing the Delhi Capitals till 2013 before moving to SRH from 2014 to 2021.  

Later, in his last three IPL seasons from 2022 to 2024, Warner returned to DC. In this span of 15 years and 15 seasons, missing the one in 2018, the veteran southpaw played 184 games, scoring 6565 runs in 184 innings at an average of 40.52, hitting four centuries and 62 half-centuries. 

Warner is fourth in the list of the five overseas players with the most matches in IPL history, alongside being the leading run-scorer among the overseas players throughout all 18 seasons so far. 

3. AB de Villiers - 184 Matches

The South African great, AB de Villiers, was one of the top highlights of the IPL throughout his dynamic career in the league. He left the fans amused by both his batting and his unbelievable fielding. De Villiers played for two franchises in his 13-year IPL career for 14 seasons from 2008 to 2021. 

His career started with DC, where he stayed till 2010 before moving to RCB from 2011 onwards, where he also played his last season five years back in 2021. The Proteas legend played 184 IPL games. 

In these appearances, he aggregated 5162 runs in 170 innings at an average of 39.70, hitting three centuries and 40 half-centuries. 

2. Kieron Pollard - 189 Matches 

The Caribbean stalwart, Kieron Pollard, was one of the vital cogs in the wheel for the Mumbai Indians in their successive title-winning journey on five occasions. Pollard played all of his 189 matches for MI throughout his career in the league from 2010 to 2022. 

In this span, he played a vital role for his side both with the bat and ball, scoring 3412 runs in 171 innings at an average of 28.67 and a strike rate of 147.32, with 16 half-centuries. 

With the ball, he picked 69 wickets in 107 innings, including a four-wicket haul. Pollard is placed in the second spot among the top five overseas players in IPL history. 

1. Sunil Narine - 189 Matches

The three-time IPL-winning spin wizard, Sunil Narine, has been representing the Kolkata Knight Riders since his debut in 2012. Notably, he finished his debut season with KKR as an IPL-winning star. 

From 2012 till now, Narine has played 189 Matches for the Knight Riders and is also set to be in action for them in the upcoming 2026 edition. In the 189 matches of his career in the league, the Caribbean stalwart has picked 192 wickets in 187 innings, with seven four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. 

Besides that, he has left everyone awestruck with his batting performances, aggregating 1780 runs in 122 innings, including 1 century and 7 half-centuries.
