IPL 2026 had a shocking setback on Saturday evening when Rashid Khan walked into the middle for the coin toss as the Gujarat Titans captain. He joined his counterpart, Riyan Parag, as Shubman Gill was ruled out of the GT vs RR match due to a muscle spasm.
Given the fact that it was not the first time Gill faced a similar injury, having felt pain in the neck last year. It ruled him out of the second Test between India and South Africa, and he also missed out on the ODI series.
Not to forget, Gill is currently India’s Test as well as the ODI captain. Therefore, Shubman Gill injury update is important for all the fans across the country.
Gujarat Titans Coach, Rashid Khan Break Silence On Shubman Gill Injury
When the entire country waited for Shubman Gill injury update, Gujarat Titans batting coach Parthiv Patel spoke to host broadcaster Star Sports during the Gujarat versus Rajasthan match.
Patel said Gill should be fit for Gujarat Titans’ next IPL 2026 match, which is against Delhi Capitals on April 8 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
"Obviously, he had a neck sprain before, and he had a spasm a couple of days back. Hoping he's fit for the coming game. It doesn't look like that serious. The injury management is not my forte. But I can definitely tell you that he should be fine," Parthiv Patel said during the GT vs RR match.
Moreover, Rashid, the stand-in GT captain, also provided an update on Shubman Gill injury.
"He's good. Just had muscle spasm. Should be back for the next game," Rashid said after the match.

However, GT signed him for just INR 65 lakh. And he did well against RR, smashing three fours in his 14-ball 18 while coming to open with Sai Sudharsan.
