Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will return to action after a week-long break on Sunday. The Rajat Patidar-led side will face the Chennai Super Kings at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The five-time winners have lost their first two matches amid the unavailability of Dewald Brevis and MS Dhoni.
Before the start of IPL 2026, MS Dhoni suffered a side strain, ruling him out for nearly six games. Dewald Brevis, too, had a side-strain but was reported to miss two to three games. The Men in Yellow have already played two matches without the Proteas star, and the fans are curious whether the 22-year-old will be available for RCB match or not.
Dewald Brevis To Miss RCB Match
In the latest events, a massive update around Dewald Brevis’ availability for the RCB match has surfaced on social media. Notably, a report from Rohit Juglan of RevSportz stated that the 22-year-old will miss the RCB match as he is not fully fit yet.
Brevis has been training with the group and is near full fitness. The management does not want to risk any relapse and are avoiding rushing the 22-year-old to the team.

Dewald Brevis’ unavailability is a huge setback for the Men in Yellow as they are in dire need of a player like Brevis in their team.
Dewald Brevis To Return Against Delhi Capitals
The report from Rohit Juglan also added that Dewald Brevis will return to action against the Delhi Capitals. Notably, after the RCB match, CSK will host Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 11, at the Chepauk Stadium.
It is a big boost for Chennai Super Kings because the Capitals have got off to a flying start. The Axar Patel-led side have won their first two games in a dominating style. In the first match against Lucknow Super Giants, DC registered a comprehensive six-wicket win.
Further, on Saturday, the Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by six-wickets again to go on top of the table. They have four points with a net run-rate of +1.170.
Dewald Brevis' IPL Journey So Far
For the unversed, Dewald Brevis went unsold in IPL 2025. However, he was brought into the team as a replacement. The right-handed batter brought an immediate impact in the team.
The 22-year-old played just 6 innings in IPL 2025 and amassed 225 runs. He averaged 37.50, with a strike-rate of 180.00. His knock featured two fifties and two fourty-plus totals.
Following the IPL, Brevis shone in leagues like SA20 and also the T20 World Cup 2026. The right-handed batter scored a century for Pretoria Capitals in final despite top-order collapse, something CSK need from him at the moment.
Further, Brevis scored 207 runs in seven innings, averaging 29.57. He had a strike-rate of 146.81.
