On Thursday, Pakistan edged past Australia to clinch the three-match ODI series 2-1. It was an enthralling series, and the fans were glued until the end to find the winner. Notably, the series was levelled 1-1, and the Shaheen Afridi-led side registered a four-wicket win in the series-decider to stun Men in Yellow.

It has been a series dominated by spinners, which has led to low-scoring thrillers. Talking about the 3rd ODI, Australia, once again, batting first, tumbled for just 157 runs on the board. In reply, Pakistan too didn’t have it easy and had to chase down the target in the 42nd over with just four wickets in hand.

Australia Disappoints, But Josh Inglis Shines

Overall, it was a disappointing series for Australia, but Josh Inglis was the only positive. Notably, Australia batted first thrice in the series and failed to cross the 250-run mark even once. The Aussies struggled against spin and failed to adjust to the challenging conditions.

Josh Inglis, on the other hand, carried his IPL form to Pakistan and emerged as the series’ leading run-getter. The right-handed batter scored 129 runs in three innings, which includes a fifty-plus score.

Following the series, leading run-getter Josh Inglis was asked about the conditions, which is when he remarked that the PCB have gone the Bangladesh way. Inglis stated that Pakistan prepared a spin-friendly track, and they expected the same from Bangladesh, which will be their next away series.

“(On playing Bangladesh next) Yeah, we might get similar (conditions) over there, so I guess we'll wait and see. But yeah, it's been nice to see some different conditions here, put some plans in place. And as I said, it's a good experience for a lot of the guys.”

Notably, Australia will now fly to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series starting from June 9. Hence, Inglis expects the same conditions to be there, which will not be easy.

Bangladesh Struggling For Automatic 2027 ODI World Cup Qualification

Ahead of the upcoming ODI series, Bangladesh have a lot at stake. Notably, The Tigers are placed 9th on the table and only the top-eight ranked teams earn a direct qualification for 2027 ODI World Cup.

The Tigers have a rating points of 84 and are just five points behind England who are 8th on the table 89 points. The last date for Bangladesh to get into top-8 is March 31, 2027. However, if they don't get the job done right now, then it will only get tough from here on.

For Australia, things are easy because they are 3rd on the rankings just behind New Zealand and India. A strong win over Bangladesh will help Australia go past New Zealand in the ODI team rankings.
