The cricketer himself scored 48 runs in three innings of the series at an average of 24, which included a cracking cameo in the third T20I.The outcome marked India’s sixth successive T20I win under his leadership, having secured a similar 3-0 outcome in Zimbabwe a couple of months ago. However, his captaincy tenure began on a shoddy note with series whitewashes in Ireland and England.So far, Iyer has captained Team India to six wins and six defeats from 12 completed T20I matches.Shreyas Iyer’s India gear up for Asian Games 2026With comprehensive wins over Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, the Indian cricket team has also attained a positive frame of mind while heading into the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. The match will be hosted by the Kōrogi Sports Park in Nisshin on September 28 next week.If Iyer’s India wins the match, they will march into the semifinals, set to be played at the same venue on October 1.As defending champions, India will be aiming to carry their winning momentum into the Asian Games and mount another strong title defence.
