Following the heartbreak at the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan have shifted their focus to ODIs and will lock horns against Bangladesh for a three-match fifty-over series. The two teams will square off in the 1st ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla on Wednesday, March 11.

Pakistan have named a fresh squad for the upcoming series as the Men in Green are without the likes of Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Saim Ayub. Rather, the Shaheen Afridi-led side have named six uncapped stars and several debuts are expected in the upcoming ODI series.

In the absence of Babar, eyes will be on Sahibzada Farhan, who earned an ODI call-up based on his stellar T20 World Cup performance. Similarly, the upcoming series is also a great opportunity for the younger generation to showcase their talent. Pakistan will miss Fakhar Zaman, who is ruled out because of injury.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, missed out on T20 World Cup 2026 participation due to Pakistan’s intervention and have the best opportunity to hit back at the Men in Green. Ahead of the 1st ODI, the Tigers have made a big call and demoted Litton Das down the order and will bat at No.5.

Ahead of the much-awaited ODI, this article will shed light on the pitch and weather updates of the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.

(Sher-e-Bangla stadium stats in ODIs)

Sher-e-Bangla stadium is known for its spin dominance. Spin, spin and spin is the key at this venue. The spinners will come in handy but the seamers too will have hint of movement early on in the innings.

The track's pace will be ideal for scoring runs, particularly against the fast bowlers when the ball gets older. However, the spinners will dominate the batters and put a break on the scoring rate.

The stats suggest that the pitch gets better for the chasing team and the team that wins the toss should opt to field first. The Batters will have to play their best shots and not rely on slogging.

The fans shouldn't expect a high-scoring game and put 250 runs on the board will be a great total at this ground.

The Pakistan vs Bangladesh match will start in the afternoon and the game is threatened by a slight chance of rain. According to accuweather, there is 9% chance of precipitation and a cloud cover of 35%.

The rain is unlikely to cause a big impact, but dark clouds above the stadium can be a reason to worry for the batters as it will increase seamer's role in the upcoming match. The good news is that the chances of precipitation decreases by the evening and so will the cloud covers, again helping the team that will bat second.

Conclusion

The Sher-e-Bangla Stadium will behave typically and now the rain threat has further reduced the chances of a high-scoring game. The bowlers will have a say in the game, particularly the spinners for Pakistan and Bangladesh.
