After the T20 World Cup 2026, the focus has shifted to IPL 2026, which is set to begin from March 28. The 19th edition of the cash-studded league starts in just 18 days, but there are still a lot of uncertainties threatening the upcoming season.
Interestingly, the IPL 2026 schedule is not out yet, and there are reports that the fixtures might be released in two phases due to the upcoming state elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam.
LPG Crisis Likely To Affect IPL 2026
In the latest events, a new trouble has hit IPL 2026. The USA-Iran war is likely to affect the upcoming edition of IPL. Because of the recent tensions in the Middle East, India are struggling with LPG and gas shortage. The government also released a circular stating that they are ensuring a smooth supply of gas to all the states.
However, amid the shortage, several states are having issues, and notable eateries and hotels are closing down in cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru. Therefore, it poses a logistical challenge for the IPL.
In the latest events, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal also expressed his concerns and stated that all the stakeholders are keeping a close eye on recent developments.
"We are reviewing the development. Since this is an evolving situation, nothing can be said as of now. But given the requirement of the situation, we will take a call accordingly," Dhumal told The New Indian Express.

Will IPL 2026 Be Moved Out Of India?
Despite the struggles, IPL 2026 is unlikely to be moved out of India because of the little time left in the start of the new season. Notably, there were reports that the tournament might get postponed, but several sports journalists have refuted these claims.
Also, even if the IPL were to contemplate moving out of India, then they don't have many options left because the war is going in the middle-east, which rules out UAE, which has been the second option for the BCCI to host IPL games.
For the unversed, Arun Dhumal has assured fans of a promising season and the new season is likely to be played entirely in India despite the LPG shortage, which also is being handled and managed at the central level.
IPL 2026 Schedule To Come Out On March 12
Amid the chaos, BCCI secretary dropped a massive update on IPL 2026 schedule and confirmed that the fixtures will be made public on March 12.
"You will get the IPL schedule on the 12th. The IPL schedule is ready. We will announce the schedule for the first 20 days because we are waiting for the election notification in Assam, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. The notification will probably come out in the next four or five days, after which we will announce the full schedule. But we have prepared a schedule for the first 20 days, and we will announce that on the 12th or 13th," Saikia stated during an event.
Notably, IPL will release the schedule in two phases.
