Pakistan and the West Indies will collide in a two-match Test series, starting with the first game on Saturday, July 25. The visitors have a new captain in Babar Azam, and a fresh-looking squad as they aim to resurrect their WTC campaign with a series win.
Pakistan have been lacklustre in the ongoing WTC cycle and have failed to deliver the goods, losing recently to Bangladesh. However, the Asian side has a chance to accomplish a never-before-attained feat, as Pakistan has never clean-swept the West Indies in their backyard.
However, Pakistan’s star white-ball all-rounder, Shadab Khan, believes Pakistan has the team to inflict a 2-0 whitewash as he undermines West Indies’ credentials.
Shadab Khan gives warning to West Indies before 1st Test match
Shadab reckons that Pakistan has a strong squad for the two-match Test series, and a whitewash is on the cards, as he dismisses West Indies as a big threat.
"Our team is much stronger than the West Indies, and the conditions also suit us. I think our team will beat them 2–0," the all-rounder told Cricwick.
Interestingly, Pakistan has won a Test series in the West Indies, but never have they inflicted a whitewash, and this is something Shadab is confident about as the two sides will lock horns in the first Test match.
How Pakistan have performed in Test series in West Indies
The two teams have been battling against each other in Test matches since 1958, and while Pakistan has defeated the Windies in Test matches away from home, their overall record looks bleak. The only time the Asian side defeated the West Indies in an away Test series was in 2017, as they won 2-1, and their head-to-head Test record is also similar.
Before that, West Indies had never lost a home series against Pakistan. Also, the last time these two teams met in the Caribbean, the series was a drawn affair.

Apart from the 2017 tour, Pakistan managed to draw the series against West Indies in 1987/88, 2005, 2011, and 2021.
Can Pakistan inflict a 2-0 whitewash?
On paper, both teams are almost equal, and there is nothing to separate them. The last two Test series between the two teams have been highly competitive, with the Windies managing a draw in Pakistan in 2024, and the Asian side managing the same feat in 2021.
Moreover, the hosts have reportedly prepared a green top as the surface would then benefit their pacers. Pakistan players generally struggle against a top-quality pace attack, and the task of handing the hosts a whitewash might be too much for the visitors.
Apart from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shan Masood, the other Pakistan batters have not played in the West Indies, and that could hamper the team.
Pakistan, West Indies struggling in WTC points table
While teams like Australia and South Africa are flying high in the ongoing WTC cycle, the same cannot be said about the two teams about to meet in a Test match on Saturday afternoon.
The Windies have been struggling with form as the team has only won a solitary fixture out of the ten they have played, and they currently languish in eighth position.
On the other hand, Pakistan have played just 4 Tests in the WTC cycle 2025-27, and they, too, have won just a solitary match, but have an inferior win percentage to the Windies (8.33).
