On Friday, Gujarat Titans entered their third final after they beat the Rajasthan Royals in qualifier 2. It was a near-perfect match for GT, particularly Shubman Gill, who scored a century. However, GT captains’ brilliant knock was overshadowed by Sai Sudharsan, who once again got out hit-wicket.

For the unversed, Sai Sudharsan was going strong and slammed 58 (32), which featured eight fours and a solitary six. GT were on course for a comfortable 10-wicket win, but Sudharsan threw his wicket after his bat slipped out of his hands and landed directly on the stumps.

Sai Sudharsan Gets Hit-Wicket Out Twice In Two Matches

Cricket has been played for over 150 years, and it's really hard to recall any player getting out hit-wicket twice in a row. Everyone, including Shubman Gill, was stunned to see Sai Sudharsan getting hit-wicket. The Southpaw, too, was in disbelief.

Fortunately, Gujarat Titans were in a comfortable position in the match, which is why the hit-wicket didn’t hurt them. However, the concern is real, and the fans are worried about a repeat in the IPL 2026 final against RCB.

In the latest events, Sai Sudharsan has finally reacted to the incident and made a big revelation.

Sai Sudharsan Breaks Silence On Two Straight Hit-Wickets

Sai Sudharsan, speaking at the post-match presentation, seemed to be in a chilled mode and joked about having a grip tech so that he doesn’t lose his bat again, that too in a crucial match like IPL 2026 final.

"I think I should try some things. I'm going to try some grip tech now, and just bat a few balls and see how it is. (How does it happen twice in two games?) Seriously. In the last game, it just bounced a few times and hit the stumps. But this game, I just wanted it to hit straight, I think," Sai Sudharsan said during post-match presentation.

Sai Sudharsan's Brilliant Run in IPL 2026

Keeping the hit-wicket drama aside, Sai Sudharsan has had a brilliant IPL 2026 so far. The southpaw has scored 710 runs in 16 innings. He is the third leading run-getter in this edition.

Shedding light on his season, Sudharsan averages 47.33, with a strike-rate of 159.55. The southpaw has scored a century and 8 fifty-plus scores. Interestingly, Sai didn't had the best of starts in IPL 2026 as he scored just a solitary fifty in the first six innings.

However, he picked up the speed mid-tournament and has been Mr. Consistent since then. At present, Sudharsan is 68 runs away from going past Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to bag the orange cap for the second straight season.

Interestingly, Sai Sudharsan has become the 2nd player in IPL history after Chris Gayle to have 2 consecutive 700-plus run seasons.
