Mumbai Indians star Rohit Sharma injured his hamstring during the MI vs RCB clash on April 12. The cricketer walked out of the field mid-match, retiring hurt as he limped back into the pavilion. Notably, Rohit went for scans, but unfortunately, the results were negative.
As per recent reports, he was ruled out of the next two IPL 2026 matches of the Mumbai indians to recover from the injury. The star also missed training sessions since then, with fans concerned about his long-term health.
However, in a recent development, Rohit Sharma was seen in the nets at Wankhede on April 15.
Rohit Sharma Severely Hurt During MI vs RCB Game
While chasing a mammoth target of 241 runs at the Wankhede, Rohit opened for MI. However, the star was not at his best, as he cramped up in his leg while running and had to leave the field immediately after scoring a 13-ball 19.
After the exit, Rohit was sent in for scans that ruled him out of the very important games against the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans on April 16 and April 20, respectively.

Rohit Sharma Recovers From Injury To Jog At Wankhede
Nevertheless, Rohit was back in his normal avatar on Wednesday evening. A couple of images of Rohit Sharma went viral on social media, courtesy of RevSportz, which shared that the veteran might be undergoing some drills and fitness sessions while jogging inside Wankhede Stadium.
Will Rohit Sharma Play MI vs PBKS Clash?
While it sounds like good news for MI fans, unfortunately, the scan results and the medical team’s assessment were negative. Despite Rohit’s positive presence on the ground, the star is set to miss the upcoming clash against the Punjab Kings.
While the Gujarat Titans clash remains a key possibility with five days left for Rohit to recover, it is a matter of when, not if, that Sharma will not make it for the April 16 game at Wankhede.
While doing some fitness drills, Rohit tried to run but didn't look very comfortable with it and was also seen clutching his thigh in pain while performing the drills.
Who Will Be The Best Replacement For Rohit?
As Rohit Sharma is certain to miss the Punjab Kings clash, it is likely that Quinton de Kock, the Proteas veteran, might make his IPL debut in 2026.
He has been dormant so far this season, with Ryan Rickelton and Rohit handling the opening duties; however, this means the 3309-run scorer in the IPL will be getting a solid opportunity with the bat.
De Kock will have his point to prove after a lacklustre IPL 2025 season, where he averaged only 21.71 with a poor strike rate of 129.91.
With his Proteas counterpart in the opening duty, a better on-field partnership is expected from MI management as the team looks to turn their fortunes around after three back-to-back losses this season.
