BCB takes massive call on Nahid Rana's NOC for BBL, even before he could ask for it | PC- AFP
Nahid Rana's stocks have been skyrocketing since he toppled top oppositions like Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan with his scorching pace and stone-cold accuracy.
However, the 23-year-old quick has been recovering from a Grade A side strain, which he sustained during the T20Is against Zimbabwe earlier in July. Due to the injury, Rana had to skip the historic Test tour of Australia, where Bangladesh scripted history by beating the mighty Aussies at Darwin.
Meanwhile, there have been talks regarding franchises looking to sign the Bangladesh quick for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL 2026/27) season.
BCB denies BBL's NOC to Nahid Rana, even before he could request it
According to Cricbuzz, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official won’t easily allow Nahid Rana to participate in the BBL 2026/27, although he hasn’t requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) yet.
"We are also seeing on different platforms that some BBL franchises are eager to secure Rana but we have not received any official letter for an NOC from him. If he submits it, the board will decide whether he will get the NOC, but chances are very slim for him to get the NOC considering the fact we have international commitments," the official told Cricbuzz.

The pacer is recovering from an injury, which is why the Bangladesh board wants to monitor his rehabilitation.
"He (Nahid Rana) just recovered from an injury, and we need to keep an eye on that as well because his fitness and workload are one of our top priorities,” the official said.
Melbourne Renegades, Adelaide Strikers sight eye on Nahid Rana
If reports are to be believed, a couple of BBL franchises have shown interest in signing Nahid Rana for the upcoming season, which kicks off in Chennai on December 12, 2026.
Reportedly, Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers are looking to ink Rana for the upcoming season. However, there is no official development regarding the same.
Both the Strikers and the Renegades failed to qualify for the knockouts last season, finishing in the bottom half of the points table in penultimate and antipenultimate places.
It is worth mentioning that no Bangladesh seamer has ever played in the Big Bash, with just Shakib Al Hasan and Rishad Hossain being the only Bangladesh cricketers to have featured in the league.
When Alex Carey offered a virtual BBL contract to Nahid Rana
Meanwhile, Nahid Rana was among the top performers during the ODI series against Australia, earlier this year. The right-arm quick annihilated the World Champions in the first match at Mirpur, returning with four wickets, including the wicket of Adelaide Strikers’ captain Alex Carey.
Impressed with Rana, Carey had openly offered him a BBL contract with the one-time champions after the BAN vs AUS 1st ODI.
“He can come to the Adelaide Strikers, if he wants," Alex Carey had said after the first ODI between Bangladesh and Australia.
Overall, Nahid Rana has taken 82 wickets across all formats at an average of 28.28 with a lovely strike rate of 35.4. Meanwhile, he was a hit during the PSL 2026, contributing to Peshawar Zalmi’s victorious campaign.
