England all-rounder Liam Livingstone was one of the most surprising releases ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made this decision, and it caught many fans off guard.

Notably, Liam Livingstone has built a solid reputation in the IPL over the years. He has played 50 innings and scored 1051 runs with an impressive strike rate of 158.76. 

In addition, Livingstone is well known across global T20 leagues for his powerful hitting. His overall T20 strike rate stands at 145.06, which shows his ability to score quickly and dominate bowlers.

Liam Livingstone’s performance in IPL 2025

During the 2025 season, Livingstone played for RCB and contributed to their championship win. At the same time, his personal performance was average compared to expectations. He scored 112 runs in eight innings with a strike rate of 133.33, including one half-century.

Moreover, the English all-rounder bowled nine overs and picked up two wickets with an economy rate of 8.44. Therefore, even though he played a role in the team’s success, his individual numbers were not very high.

Liam Livingstone IPL career so far

It is worth mentioning that Livingstone started his IPL journey with Rajasthan Royals. Notably, he was bought for INR 50 lakh and scored 70 runs in four innings with a strike rate of 145.83. After that, he was picked again by Rajasthan Royals in 2021 for ₹75 lakh.

Later, in 2022, his career saw a big rise. Punjab Kings bought him for ₹11.50 crore, making him the most expensive foreign player in that auction. He stayed with Punjab Kings for three seasons and delivered strong performances.

In 2022, he had an excellent season, scoring 437 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of 182.08. Along with that, he also took 6 wickets. In IPL 2023, he continued as an important player and scored 279 runs in 9 matches, including a brilliant 94 against Delhi Capitals.

After that, ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, Punjab Kings released him. Soon after, RCB signed him for ₹8.75 crore. He then played a role in their title-winning season, although his individual performance remained moderate.

Liam Livingstone IPL 2026 price

Moving to the IPL 2026 mini auction, Liam Livingstone had an interesting journey. At first, he went unsold in the early stages of the auction. However, in the accelerated round, a bidding war started between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Eventually, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured him for ₹13 crore.

This showed strong interest in his abilities, especially his power-hitting skills and all-round performance. Even though he was unsold initially, his value quickly increased during the bidding process.

After joining Sunrisers Hyderabad, Livingstone did not play in the first two matches. Later, he was included in the playing XI for the third match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday, April 5.

In addition, his all-round abilities add depth to the squad. Therefore, Sunrisers Hyderabad will look forward to him making a strong impact in the rest of the season.
