Marriage and personal relationships have often found themselves under the spotlight in Pakistan cricket. Now, Pakistan discard Imam ul Haq has added to that narrative, with his cryptic Instagram post fueling speculation of yet another seemingly turbulent marital episode in Pakistan cricket after the recent chatter around Imad Wasim.

Imam ul Haq gets fans talking with brutal marriage post
On Sunday, April 5, Imam-ul-Haq took to his Instagram account and shared a cryptic message for fans regarding the prospect of getting married “in this generation”. The cricketer wrote “Jokes aside, getting married in this generation is actually scary.”
Imam ul Haq's message suggests that all may not be well in his marriage with wife Anmol Mehmood, with the cryptic tone of his words hinting at deeper issues rather than just a passing remark.
What made his message even more surprising is that the couple recently welcomed a baby girl just a couple of months ago this year, i.e., over two years after their marriage in November 2023.

As a result, several Pakistan fans are now interpreting his post as a potential sign of another brewing divorce in Pakistan cricket, adding further intrigue to the situation. Here is a look at some of the fans reacting to Imam ul Haq's demeaning Instagram story about marriage.
Imam ul Haq juggling personal life with professional struggles
With Imam ul Haq's marriage seemingly falling apart, the cricketer is also struggling to find his way back into the Pakistan team. The 30-year-old, who also happens to be the nephew of legendary Pakistan batter Inzamam-ul-Haq, has often been accused of benefiting from favoritism and nepotism in selection debates.
He has played 26 Tests, 75 ODIs and two T20Is for the Pakistan team to date. However, the left-handed top-order batter played the last of those 103 internationals back in October 2025 last year during a home Test series against South Africa.
The cricketer has fallen out of Pakistan’s white-ball contention, despite scaling quite a few 50-overs records at the start of his career.
Now Imam ul Haq has clarified his earlier story. He took to Instagram and uploaded a fresh story clarifying the rumours going around his marriage.
Pakistan cricketers and troubling marriages: A never-ending story
Marital controversies have, over the years, formed an uncomfortable yet recurring subplot in Pakistan cricket, with several high-profile names finding their personal lives under intense public scrutiny.
Not long ago, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik was widely discussed among fans and media after his separation with Indian tennis icon Sania Mirza. He has since married Pakistan television actress Sana Javed.
All-rounder Imad Wasim also announced his separation from wife Sannia Ashfaq. Soon after their divorce, Wasim married his girlfriend, Nyla Raja. The cricketer described his previous marriage to Sannia as one of the “hardest phases” of his life, but called his children the “greatest blessing” from his troubled chapter.
