On Sunday, April 5, Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium In Hyderabad. The Orange Army turned up in thousands to support their side. However, the Rishabh Pant-led side silenced the entire stadium early on in the innings.
The visitors won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first. Mohammed Shami spilled his magic in the first over and got Abhishek Sharma out for a duck. Similar to the DC match, the seamers were again on point and the formidable duo of Shami and Prince Yadav took early wickets to reduce SRH to 11/3.
Mohammed Shami-Prince Yadav Magic Makes Rishabh Pant Happy
As mentioned above, Mohammed Shami drew the first blood. He returned for his second over and got rid of Travis Head, who departed for 7 (8). In the next over, Prince Yadav got rid of SRH skipper Ishan Kishan, who has been in fine form.
Rishabh Pant was a happy captain as he is under a lot of pressure. Notably, LSG suffered an embarrassing defeat against Delhi Capitals in their opening match and questions were raised on Pant for his tactics.

For the unversed, Pant had a terrible IPL 2025 as a batter and a captain. LSG failed to qualify for the playoffs and the southpaw is also facing the pressure of his 27 crore price-tag.
Rishabh Pant Gets Into Action With Acrobatic Effort
The bowlers were doing their job and the LSG captain jumped into action in the 8th over of the match. Pant brough Digvesh Rathi into the attack and he took a wicket on the first ball of his over.
Notably, on the 1st ball of the 8th over, Rishabh Pant took a brilliant catch to send Liam Livingstone packing for a low total on his SRH debut. The England all-rounder looked for a scoop shot and Pant moved to his right as he pre-meditated the shot.
Livingstone didn't get the timing he wanted and Pant made a dive to his right and held onto a blinder.
Why Didn't Digvesh Rathi Celebrate His Wicket?
Fans were excited to see Digvesh Rathi in action and he delivered. He took a wicket on the first ball of his 2nd over, but did not celebrate the wicket. He is known for his notebook celebration, which caused a lot of controversy last season.
Because of his celebration, Digvesh fought with Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Rana in the recent past. He also took fines thrice in IPL 2025. Therefore, one of the major reason behind dropping his signature celebration for IPL 2026 could be to avoid the heavy fines.
For the unversed, according to IPL rules, a player's fine gets doubled if the offence is repeated in a single edition.
