R Ashwin might have retired from international cricket, however, the Indian legend continues to remain in the spotlight. From his cricket analysis to his YouTube videos, Ashwin often shares interesting stories and opinions with fans.
This time, however, he revealed a rather unusual incident that happened while he was recording a video at his home.
Notably, in a recent episode of his YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat, R Ashwin spoke about an incident that left him surprised. It was just another day for the former India spinner as he was busy recording a video. However, the situation suddenly became unusual when the police arrived at his house.

Notably, Ashwin revealed that his security guard called him three or four times. Since he was recording, he did not answer the calls. Soon after, his wife also tried to contact him. Therefore, Ashwin realised that something important might have happened.
When he called his wife back, she told him that the police were waiting outside his house. Naturally, the incident caught Ashwin's attention. Later, the former India spinner explained that there was no serious issue involved. He had submitted his passport while applying for a visa, and the police officer had arrived to return it to him.
“The security of my house called me three-four times. He doesn't make these many calls. My wife also called me. Then I cut the call and asked. She told me, ‘Police is at the door.’ I had given my passport for a visa, so he brought that passport back,” Ashwin said.
Interestingly, Ashwin was also asked whether even a cricketer of his stature has to go through such normal procedures. However, the veteran gave a simple answer.
Ashwin said, "I want to live the life of a normal person, so I prefer normalcy."

Controversies Surrounding R Ashwin’s YouTube Channel
Since becoming active on YouTube in 2024, R Ashwin has regularly shared cricket analysis, opinions and important updates. However, his channel also became the centre of controversy during IPL 2025.
While he was officially part of CSK, Ashwin claimed that the franchise was willing to pay extra to sign South African batter Dewald Brevis. Notably, Brevis had a base price of INR 75 lakh in the mega auction, although he went unsold. Later, CSK signed him as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh.
It is important to note that R Ashwin's comments quickly went viral, with fans questioning whether the franchise had followed the rules. However, Ashwin later clarified that he had not accused CSK of any wrongdoing. Instead, he said that his comments had been misunderstood.
Following the controversy, Ashwin decided not to post any CSK-related videos during the remainder of IPL 2025.
R Ashwin Continues To Make Headlines After Retirement
Later, Ashwin announced his IPL retirement on August 27, 2025, bringing his 16-year career in the tournament to an end. Nevertheless, he has continued to remain closely connected with the cricket world through his YouTube channel.
Recently, Ashwin once again attracted attention after claiming that former England captain Eoin Morgan could be a strong contender for the CSK head coach role following Stephen Fleming's departure.
“I have a strong hunch. Eoin Morgan's name is strongly linked to the CSK head coach role, per my sources. I think a decision will be made in the next week,” Ashwin said.
However, CSK have not officially reacted to Ashwin's claim, and the franchise's replacement for Fleming is yet to be announced.
