Pakistan cricketer Azam Khan might have landed in one of the biggest controversies of all time after he picked his favourite batter in a "this or that" questionnaire during a fun interview for an entertainment media outlet.

Khan, who is fairly a decent batter on the crease and an average wicketkeeper behind the stumps, has played for the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League 2026 and managed to rack up 236 runs in the tournament while averaging 33.71.

While not at his very best, Azam's choices in the "this or that" questionnaire were also not to the liking of many cricket fans and experts, as he was asked to choose between India stars Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam.

The questionnaire started with the host asking whom Azam Khan likes better, whether it is Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, to which Azam Khan looked a bit troubled at first.

Azam shared, "Personally, I like Virat Kohli, no, I mean Rohit Sharma, because he is so unkempt."

Then, the questionnaire followed with names like Babar Azam, AB de Villiers, Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and even the West Indies great Brian Lara, over whom Azam chose to stick with Rohit.

Azam's fandom for Rohit was not unusual, since he admired Rohit's playing style much more than others because he finds his batting style extremely elegant and almost similar to what Azam Khan likes to replicate on the field.

However, choosing Rohit Sharma over Virat Kohli and Babar Azam drew the line for multiple fans who stormed the internet with hilarious reactions on Azam Khan's career.

Sachin Tendulkar Wins The Bet Over Rohit

Nevertheless, Rohit stayed on with Azam before Sachin Tendulkar appeared. The God of Cricket was chosen by Azam to be his winner. And he remained the ultimate, as Sir Viv Richards too was rejected by Azam.

While all of the names taken in the interview were among the greatest in cricket, Azam's choice for Rohit and Sachin was strikingly remarkable, given the strained relationship between India and Pakistan currently.

Meanwhile, Azam's batting performances haven't been super impressive in the last two years. Playing in the ILT20 2025, he averaged only 10, and his last appearance for his national side was in the T20 World Cup 2024, where he played just one single match against the USA and was out for a golden duck.

With his playing days almost over for the national side, Azam's choices have now left a huge analysis to be done on which of these three cricketers is the greatest.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Or Sachin Tendulkar, Who Is Better?

If analysed under a scanner, Sachin Tendulkar has 15,921 runs at an average of 53.78 in 200 matches in Test cricket. Virat Kohli is also strong with over 9,000 runs and 30 centuries in the format, while Rohit lags a bit with 4,301 runs in Test cricket.

In ODIs though, Virat Kohli has an edge with his highest average of 58.71 and most centuries with 54 under his belt. Sachin Tendulkar, though, has the most runs with 18,426 and an average of 44.83.

While playing in tougher and lower-scoring eras than Kohli, Rohit Sharma is excellent although again has lesser numbers than the previous two.

The T20I format has to be given to Kohli since he has the best average among the three, as Sachin barely played T20Is and Rohit Sharma has played more matches but scored slightly more runs than Kohli.

Conclusion: Who is The Best?

To explain simply, Sachin Tendulkar would easily take the title of the greatest Indian batter both statistically and contextually. Virat Kohli, the modern great, has insane statistics under his belt, however, he will be under the Master Blaster since Sachin's greatness cannot be defined by modern-era batting.

While Rohit, Azam Khan's favourite, should be just a nick below the other two, he is yet a very elegant and powerful striker of the ball, which verifies Azam Khan's affinity towards Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar over his own country mate Babar Azam.
