After a brutal defeat in the first Test against England, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) launched a massive development plan back home. The board selected 20 bowlers for a camp at the NCA located in Lahore.

PCB were taken aback when Pakistan lost to England in the Leeds Test. Hence, the management initiated a development plan in Lahore to nurture and groom young bowlers who can safeguard Pakistan’s Test future.

PCB select 20 bowlers for NCA camp

Meanwhile, the PCB announced that a development camp has been set up in NCA in Lahore and a total of 20 young bowlers were selected for this special session.

The group consists of 12 fast bowlers and 8 spinners, including 8 uncapped players. The camp is being conducted in two phases rather than bringing everyone together at once.

Also, the 5-day fast bowling camp will take place from August 24 to 38, supervised by NCA coaches. Later, the spin bowling camp will be conducted from August 21 to September 4.

The bowlers will work with NCA coaches as well as members of Pakistan's men's white-ball coaching staff.

Who are the bowlers included in this camp?

Interestingly, 7 fast bowlers who haven't yet played for Pakistan at the international level have been selected, Razaullah, Mohammad Salman, Qayyum Khan, Abdul Subhan, Abuzar, Mohammad Imran Jnr and Muhammad Imran.

Among these names, Abdul Subhan is particularly interesting as he represented Pakistan at the 2026 U19 World Cup. The camp also includes several bowlers who have already represented Pakistan.

Mohammad Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Mohammad Hasnain and Faheem Ashraf will also take part in this camp.

Also, the 8 spinners selected are Mehran Mumtaz, Mubasir Khan, Saad Masood, Faisal Akram, Arafat Minhas, Abrar Ahmed, Danish Aziz and Mohammad Nawaz.

Overall, this camp could eventually help Pakistan develop replacements and competition for established international bowlers.

Pakistan preparing for revenge vs England

Having said that, this development camp was arranged by the PCB just days after Pakistan lost to England in the first Test of the 3-game series held at Headingley, Leeds.

Pakistan collapsed to 171 and 135 in response to England’s 409, thus losing by an innings and 103 runs. It was a complete failure from both departments as only bowler Ali Usman impressed with a five-wicket-haul.

Also, captain Babar Azam missed the Leeds Test due to a finger injury he sustained during practice. However, ahead of the second Test at Lord’s, Babar is expected to return as his injury is reportedly healed.

The Lord's Test between England and Pakistan will be held on Thursday, August 27. It will naturally be a do-or-die game for Pakistan as England have a 1-0 lead.
