Indian off-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal impressed in the recent County Championship game between Lancashire and Northamptonshire. He took a crucial wicket and mimicked Medhavi Bidhuri’s viral celebration from WDPL 2026.

Chahal signed up for Northamptonshire for the County Championship 2026 season. He has been performing consistently in red-ball cricket to increase his chances of a comeback into the Indian cricket team.

Yuzvendra Chahal mimics Medhavi Bidhuri’s celebration

In the fourth innings of the Lancashire vs Northamptonshire County Division Two game held at the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed opener Marcus Harris on 10 off 25 balls. Following the early wicket, the off-spinner did a ‘6-7’ celebration with his teammates.

Notably, Chahal shared the video of the celebration on Instagram and said that his celebration was inspired by WDPL cricketer Medhavi Bidhuri. The 20-year-old leg-spinner went viral after she did a ‘6-7’ celebration in the WDPL 2026 season.

Naturally, Bidhuri's viral video also reached Yuzvendra Chahal all the way to England as he chose to hop on to the Gen Z trend in the County Championship.

Meanwhile, Lancashire lost 8 wickets in a tough run chase. They still need 340 runs to win while Northamptonshire need to pick just 2 wickets to claim a victory on Day 5.

Medhavi Bidhuri’s ‘6-7’ celebration that went viral in WDPL

For context, during Central Delhi Queens' opening game against South Delhi Superstarz on August 20, Medhavi Bidhuri dismissed Nishika Singh and celebrated by repeatedly raising and lowering both hands to make the “6-7” gesture.

It is a trend that has become popular among Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences. Bidhuri revealed that the celebration was actually connected to her jersey number.

She normally wanted to wear No. 12, but that number was already taken. Her younger sister suggested that she choose No. 67 instead and combine it with the viral “6-7” trend to create a signature celebration.

The celebration came after a good individual performance. Bidhuri finished with 2/24 from four overs, although Central Delhi Queens eventually lost the match by 29 runs.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s performance in the County Championship

Having said that, in the County Championship Division Two 2026 season, Yuzvendra Chahal has played just 1 game until now, picking 3 wickets at an economy of 1.98.

He picked up 2 wickets in the first innings against Lancashire and a solitary wicket in the second innings. That being said, Chahal is yet to make his Test debut for India.

He last played international cricket in 2023. While Yuzvendra Chahal regularly plays in domestic cricket and the IPL, his comeback into Team India remains uncertain due to incessant competition. Still, Chahal isn't giving up and continues to play in various tournaments across the world.
