Mohammad Amir made many headlines in the past for Pakistan, some for good reasons and some for very bad reasons. Now, at the age of 34, he decided to make a massive move, securing a UK citizenship for more opportunities.

On Friday, Amir was first in action as a local player from England when Kent were up against Nottinghamshire for the T20 Blast 2026. And he could not have asked for a better start to kick off the proceedings, recreating one of the famous wickets of his career, of Rohit Sharma’s.

Mohammad Amir Makes Finch Look Like Rohit Sharma

As usual, Amir took the new ball in hand to get the Kent vs Nottinghamshire T20 Blast match underway. After bowling a dot to begin with, Amir bowled a vicious inswinger to Harry Finch, who played a wrong line to find himself plumb in front of the wicket.

Amir appealed immediately, and the on-field umpire raised his finger to make sure Finch returned to the pavilion without troubling the scorers.

Very similarly, Amir trapped Rohit Sharma leg-before for a three-ball duck in the Champions Trophy 2017 final between India and Pakistan, although the wicket ball pitched at the good length that time.

Eventually, Mohammad Amir finished with impressive figures of 2/26 off his four overs, taking the wicket of dangerous-looking Grant Stewart (22 off 11 balls) later on.

Nottinghamshire, for which Amir plays, restricted Kent to 184/7 and got past the finishing line with eight balls and four wickets to spare.

Amir Vs Rohit: Numbers At A Glance

Since 2010, Rohit Sharma and Mohammad Amir have gone up against each other multiple times despite no India vs Pakistan bilateral series. In ODIs, Rohit has a strike rate of 60.6 against Amir, having made 43 off 71 balls, of which 45 were dot deliveries. His only dismissal in the format against Amir came in Champions Trophy 2017 final.

In the T20Is, Amir was simply magnificent against Rohit. Even though he had only bowled seven balls to India’s all-time great, he got the wicket of him twice, conceding only 1 run. They met each other in T20Is only in 2016.

When Mohammad Amir Was Banned For Spot-Fixing

Amir had a supreme start as an international player at such a young age. However, he ruined it all when Mazhar Majeed, a notorious player agent, bribed him to bowl two no-balls in the infamous Lord’s Test between Pakistan and England, back in 2010.

As a result, Amir was sent to jail for six months and banned from all cricket for five months. His ban from playing cricket finally ended on September 2, 2015.

As Amir was not in the mix of things for Pakistan, of late, he decided to join England and take the UK Citizenship for a better future.
