Mohammad Amir has joined the Nottinghamshire Cricket Club for the remainder of the ongoing Vitality T20 Blast 2026 season in England. Remarkably, the former Pakistan fast bowler has joined the club as a “local” player.
On Thursday, June 25, the cricket club confirmed that Amir has agreed to a short-term deal.
Mohammad Amir joins Notts Outlaws as local England player
Mohammad Amir is set to play the 2026 Vitality T20 Blast season for the Notts Outlaws team in England. The speedster will be representing the prestigious cricket club as a “local” player.
Not long ago, Amir received his British passport and he now officially holds British nationality. As a British passport holder, the speedster will not be counted as an overseas player.
The passport he acquired even makes him eligible to play the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India despite being a Pakistan-born cricketer.

In any case, the 34-year-old has expressed his excitement in joining the Notts Outlaws. The cricketer stated that he wants to carry Nottinghamshire’s newfound winning momentum for the rest of the tournament.
As published by the cricket club, Amir said “I’m really excited to have joined Notts. I’ve heard lots of good things about this club, and I’m looking forward to it. The team have played the last three games really well, and I’ll be trying to help carry that momentum forward throughout the tournament.”
Notts Outlaws welcome Mohammad Amir
Notts Outlaws head coach Peter Moores has welcomed Mohammad Amir into the cricket club. Moores was previously associated with Amir when he coached the Karachi Kings franchise in the PSL.
The Outlaws coach praised the Pakistani paceman, saying “Mo has a great skill set for both the powerplay and the end of the innings, as well as the mental strength to deliver under pressure, which has made him so valuable to teams around the world. He has great energy and passion to play, having experienced all the highs and lows our game can throw at you.”
Mohammad Amir’s track record in T20s and in England competitions
Mohammad Amir, a veteran of 364 T20 matches, has picked up 425 wickets in the format, including 71 in the international level from 61 innings for Pakistan.
The prodigious fast bowling talent was part of the Pakistan national side that lifted the 2009 T20 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy, both hosted by England.
Amir has also previously played T20 Blast cricket for three different teams, namely Essex, Gloucestershire and Derbyshire before joining the Nottinghamshire Cricket Club for the 2026 T20 Blast season.
The speedster was part of the Essex cricket team that lifted the 2019 Vitality Blast trophy, and also won The Hundred 2024 men’s title as part of the Oval Invincibles franchise.
Amir will be available to play for the Notts Outlaws for their upcoming match against Kent Spitfires on June 26. The match will be hosted by the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. The Nottinghamshire team is currently placed second on the North Group points table of the Vitality T20 Blast 2026 season with three wins and three defeats from six games.
