Pakistan players deny scam despite recent cheque bounce reports
Several Pakistan cricketers have denied being victim of a scam in an alleged fraud case in the country. While speaking with Geo News, the Pakistan players have said that they had earlier invested in a company, but no fraud has occurred against them in spite of the contrary reports.
A certain player said that the company is constantly in contact with the cricketers and has already promised to clear all the payments within a month or two, by March to be exact.
It is worth noting that a few days ago, news arose that two cheques from the company were bounced. Addressing the concern, the player said that the news gained wider recognition in the country only after the aforementioned report surfaced.
The Pakistan cricketers have also assured PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi of facing no issues with the business, whose owner is currently based in Dubai, UAE. The players have also reportedly told Naqvi that they will inform him of any wrongdoing or concerns that may arise in the future.
As per the Pakistan players, the owner in Dubai is already in regular contact with them, and has assured them of solving the situation promptly.
Reports had emerged of alleged involvement
Earlier this month, several reports suggested that many Pakistan active as well as former cricketers have lost money in an alleged fraud case. Although, no formal complaints were filed by any of the Pakistani players regarding the same.
The case involves a certain Dubai-based businessman promising high returns upon investments to interested Pakistan players. Another report suggested that the businessman later became unreachable.
A few Pakistan players reportedly received only partial refunds, and one of the agents representing the cricketers was believed to have lost some money in the same scheme with the businessman.
