In recent years, the relationship between India and Pakistan has seen a significant decline. While the two arch-rivals have stopped playing bilateral series since 2012, it was the Pahalgam attack that impeded cricketing ties between the nations.
After the heart-wrenching terror attack, where 26 Indians were killed, the BCCI took a bold step by asking the Indian cricketers not to engage with their Pakistan counterparts during the games.
While India's actions have drawn sharp criticism within Pakistani circles, the former maintains that the move was necessitated by a terror attack allegedly backed by Pakistan.
Faheem Ashraf mocked India with offensive posts
Not just the top officials from Pakistan, but their cricketers also didn't shy away from taking shots at India and the Operation Sindoor, which was launched by the Indian forces to fight back terrorism.
Earlier this month, Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf also made a derogatory remark at India's Operation Sindoor by sharing an Instagram story, a mocking artwork of the Pakistan Army launching missiles towards India.
Meanwhile, during the time of Operation Sindoor, he shared such controversial posts on social media.
Faheem picks Suresh Raina as his idol; criticises Indian fraternity
In an interview, Faheem Ashraf praised former India and Chennai Super Kings batter Suresh Raina, calling him his idol. However, after complimenting Suresh Raina, the Pakistani all-rounder criticised the Indian fraternity.
"Chris Gayle, Saeed Anwar, Suresh Raina - all were my batting idols growing up. Those people (Indians) can't take our names, but we don't have any problem in praising them. They will get in trouble in complimenting us, but we won't," Faheem Ashraf stated on Hassan Azam's YouTube Channel.
"Then there was Kumar Sangakkara. In bowling, I loved Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul and Mohammad Amir. Everyone praises the stars of yesterday years, but I started playing watching them," Faheem Ashraf added.
As Faheem Ashraf's interview has picked up, netizens have started to call out the Pakistani cricketer for his double standards.
A user on X took mickey on the all-rounder by saying, "The same guy used AI edited pics to disrespect women and country India sentiments after Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor."
Faheem Ashraf on verge of losing PCB contract
On the cricketing front, Faheem Ashraf's stocks in Pakistan have only dropped as he had a below-par campaign in the PSL 2026. Subsequently, he did not fare well in the 2026 T20 World Cup either, as Pakistan were knocked out of the Super 8s.
Given his poor form, the all-rounder is reportedly considered to be dropped from the PCB central contracts. Meanwhile, young Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal are expected to be rewarded in the upcoming annual contracts, after their gun performances in the Bangladesh Tests.
Meanwhile, Ashraf has inked a deal with Yorkshire for the County Championship in pursuit of a comeback to the Test format.
