Ayush Mhatre has been dismissed for a two-ball duck against Pakistan U19 in Indiaâs final Super Six match of the 2026 ICC Menâs U19 World Cup. Blistering opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi also failed to make the most of his top-order blitz by gifting away his wicket to Pakistanâs new ball pacer Mohammad Sayyam.
With Suryavanshi and Mhatreâs dismissals in quick succession, coupled with that Aaron George, India U19 crashed from 47-0 to 47-3 in the space of just four deliveries to concede their hard-earned early advantage back to Pakistan.
Fans call out Ayush Mhatre, Vaibhav Suryavanshi after failures in crucial match
India U19 captain Ayush Mhatre once again failed to go big for his side in the ongoing 2026 ICC Menâs U19 World Cup. In Indiaâs final Super Six match against Pakistan, the cricketer nicked one towards wicketkeeper Hamza Zahoor off fast bowler Mohammad Sayyam for a shambolic two-ball duck.
In-form opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, on the other hand, started off the match by getting India U19 off to a flier with his boundary blitz. Smoking five fours and a six in just 22 deliveries to race to 30*, the blistering left-hander had also nicked one towards the Pakistan wicketkeeper off Sayyam in the eighth over of the innings.
With both Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi failing to come up clutch on the big day, a legion of Indian cricket fans called out the two IPL superstars. While some fans cited Mhatreâs dismal track record in U19 cricket and questioned his credentials as skipper, others tore into Suryavanshi for gifting away his wicket and not making the most of his early reprieves.
A look at fans reacting to Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatreâs batting failures vs Pakistan:

Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi form a concern for India
Ayush Mhatre has aggregated just 99 runs in the ongoing 2026 ICC Menâs U19 World Cup at a dismal average of 19.80. The cricketer scored 53 of them in a single game against New Zealand earlier this week where India was chasing a modest target of just 130.
The CSK star also listed just 65 runs in five innings of the U19 Asia Cup back in December with an average of 13.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has often blown hot and cold in his career. While the blistering left-handed opener has provided his team some flying starts in recent memory, the Rajasthan Royals cricketer tends to fail in big games on occasions.
India vs Pakistan U19: The Story so farâŚ
India U19 batted first in Bulawayo and raced to 47-0 around 7.3 overs, largely owing to early boundary barrage from Vaibhav Suryavanshi. However, the attacking opener gifted away his wicket to Mohammad Sayyam, which was followed by two more wickets in quick succession, that of opening partner Aaron George and skipper Ayush Mhatre.
In the space of an over, India slipped from 47-0 to 47-3 as Pakistan soared back into the game. At the time of publishing, Vedant Trivedi and Vihaan Malhotra were anchoring the Indian innings back to recovery with a crucial fourth-wicket partnership.
