Yuvraj Singh signed off from international cricket having gone down as one of the game’s greatest match-winners.

Be it in India’s first-ever Under-19 World Cup win in 2000 or ending the nation’s 28-year-long senior World Cup drought in 2011, the legendary Indian all-rounder won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award in both.

Moreover, Yuvraj also had a key role to play in India’s historic T20 World Cup win in its inaugural edition back in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

Across his decorated 17-year international career for Team India, he shared the crease with several iconic names and forged numerous partnerships that became as memorable as his own match-winning exploits.

Interestingly, when asked to single out one among all his batting partners, Yuvraj Singh’s choice was not the most obvious pick many would expect.

While speaking with Michael Vaughan on The Overlap Cricket YouTube channel, Yuvraj Singh was asked to reveal his favourite batting partner.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the legendary left-handed middle-order batter named former captain and multi-World Cup-winning teammate MS Dhoni over the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

It is worth noting that both Yuvraj and MS Dhoni shared numerous match-winning partnerships together, especially in ODIs. Moreover, the two hard-hitting middle-order batters were the architects of India’s historic 4-1 ODI series win in Pakistan back in 2006.

Yuvraj also plundered his career-best ODI score of 150 during the fag end of his career by crafting a historic 256-run stand with the iconic wicketkeeper-batter, doing so in January 2017 against England in Cuttack.

The Indian all-rounder also answered a slew of other Michael Vaughan questions, posed together in a rapid-fire round. For instance, Yuvraj Singh picked Test cricket as his favourite playing format, and named Sachin Tendulkar as a batting partner to “save” his own “life”.

Yuvraj Singh also shared several iconic batting moments for the Indian cricket team with both, Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.

With Virat, the legendary all-rounder crafted many historic match-winning partnerships, including the one against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2016 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj and Tendulkar, meanwhile, mastered India’s all-time record chase of 387 against the visiting England team in the Chennai Test of 2008.

Yuvraj reveals special gift from Lalit Modi

Yuvraj also praised IPL founder Lalit Modi, calling him a “man of his word” for gifting him a brand-new BMW M5. The cricketer revealed that the Indian businessman had told him that he would gift a Ferrari to any player who would hit six sixes in an over.

After Yuvraj launched Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the 2007 T20 World Cup, the cricketer was then promised a Porsche 911 by the businessman. He eventually got a BMW M5 instead, as Team India won the inaugural T20 World Cup edition in South Africa.
