MI's jersey resembles their 2020 iconic kit
The newly-launched jersey resembles what the team wore during their historic IPL 2020 campaign. It has similar colour shades and vibes, and looks almost a replica of the kit that MI wore six seasons ago. With the jersey giving similar vibes to 2020, MI would hope that the team could also mimic the same performance that they gave that season.

MI finished at the top of the league stage in 2020, winning 9 games out of 14, and topping the charts with 18 points. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai-based franchise played some brilliant cricket as they thrashed the Delhi Capitals in the finals to clinch their fifth IPL title.
The fans and the franchise would hope that the team could replicate the same performance in 2026.

MI's slump post 2020
2020 was the last time MI won an IPL title, and since then, they have been denied glory. Many consider the 2020 batch as one of the best T20 sides in the history of the game, but since then, the team's performance has gone downhill.
Since winning the league in 2020, the franchise has yet to reach the finale of an IPL season, and post 2023, they also replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as their new captain. In the 2024 edition, under Hardik, the team finished at the bottom of the table, and last season, they managed to reach Qualifier 2.
Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, the franchise have assembled a strong squad as they hope the new jersey could bring in the 2020 luck for them. Another IPL title will make them the most decorated team in the tournament's history.
