Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Saturday, March 28.

Bangladesh unveils schedule of New Zealand series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled the entire schedule of Bangladesh’s upcoming home series against New Zealand. As per the schedule, the Bangladesh men’s team will be hosting the ‘Black Caps’ for a series of three ODIs and three T20I matches.

The series will commence with a couple of ODIs in Mirpur on April 17 and April 20, before the action shifts to Chattogram for the third ODI and the first couple of T20Is. Interestingly, the series was green-lit after the NZC had launched a security probe in Bangladesh earlier this year by sending a three-member security assessment team.

The blistering left-handed top-order batter clattered eight cracking boundaries and five huge sixes at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru after arriving to the crease inside the powerplay.

Through the course of his innings, Ishan also completed 3,000 runs in his IPL career, thus becoming the sixth fastest cricketer in the history of the tournament to reach the landmark figure in terms of number of balls faced. The 27-year-old has faced 2,180 deliveries to fall just behind Rishabh Pant, Yusuf Pathan, Suryakumar Yadav, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni.

Jasprit Bumrah’s availability confirmed by Mumbai Indians coach

Jasprit Bumrah is available to play the IPL 2026 season from the outset for the Mumbai Indians franchise, as confirmed by head coach and former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene. While speaking at a press conference, Jayawardene said that the legendary Indian speedster is already back with the squad.

Earlier this month, Bumrah visited the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru for routine proactive workload management and strength training. His visit also raised speculation among fans if the senior paceman had picked up a fresh niggle or was undergoing precautionary assessment.
