MS Dhoni speaks on the CSK-RCB rivalry

Alongside the Mumbai Indians, RCB and CSK are the two most popular, valuable IPL franchises, loved and worshipped by many. While CSK has won the most IPL championships (5), RCB are the current holders of the title and have won the last two seasons.

Hailing from the Southern part of India, the CSK-RCB contest a fierce rivalry, which has always been dominated by the MS Dhoni-led side.

However, in the last. two years, the tables have turned, and MSD admits CSK needs to up the ante to catch RCB in the next season.

"Over the last two years, we've (CSK) struggled, and that's a fact. There's no point in shying away from it. RCB has done really, really well, and that's how life is...RCB has performed consistently over the last couple of years, whereas we haven't.

Hopefully, we'll be able to keep injuries at bay and ensure that our fit players remain available throughout the tournament," MS Dhoni said.

How RCB have turned the tables since IPL 2024

RCB and CSK played in one of the best matches of the IPL 2024 season. The Bengaluru-based side needed a big win to qualify for the IPL playoffs, and they managed the impossible by defeating CSK, thus eliminating them from the tournament.

The two teams met in the IPL 2025 twice, and both matches were won by Rajat Patidar’s RCB as CSK once again failed to reach the playoffs.

In the 2026 season, the two sides met only once, and RCB once again prevailed as CSK’s winless run against the defending champions continued.
