Mohsin Naqvi's PCB Takes Final Call On Aaqib Javed Amid Global Bombardment

The Pakistan cricket team just underwent a massive overhaul in England. Following Pakistan’s demoralizing defeat to England at Lord’s, the PCB released as many as seven cricketers, called up five uncapped stars and sacked team’s head coach and bowling coach midway into the series. 

Simultaneously dealing with the Imran Khan controversy and with Imam-ul-Haq allegedly “faking” yet another injury, Pakistan Cricket has undoubtedly become the “laughing stock” of the cricketing world, at least as per former players like Nasser Hussain and Usman Khawaja. 

Amidst global embarrassment, the PCB has now made another stern decision, this time regarding the fate of Pakistan’s Director of High Performance, Aaqib Javed.

PCB seals fate of Pakistan’s Director of High Performance

For a change, one key individual in authority has retained his position in the Pakistan cricketing circle. As reported by Geo Super, the PCB has decided that Aaqib Javed will continue to serve the national side as Pakistan’s Director of High Performance and as the selector too.

According to the Geo Super report, the former Pakistan cricketer will keep making Pakistan’s “key cricketing decisions” and will carry out all responsibilities assigned to him by the board.

The development occurred on September 5, i.e., at a time when Aaqib is already facing much scrutiny from Pakistan fans following team’s dismal run in Test cricket. 

It is worth noting that the former Pakistan cricketer is also one of the national selectors of the team. However, earlier this week, several reports claimed that Javed will likely be removed as the PCB chief selector.

While the 54-year-old was with the Pakistan in England in the first two Tests of the series, he has now returned to Lahore.

Aaqib Javed submits explanation to PCB over Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq

Senior wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and elegant opener Imam-ul-Haq were among the seven cricketers released by the PCB after Pakistan’s crushing defeat in the second Test of the series in England.

After their removal from the squad, the PCB reportedly sought a written explanation from the selectors to justify the selection of Rizwan and Imam in the Test side. 

While Misbah-ul-Haq tendered his resignation as a selector over sudden changes in the team, Aaqib Javed has reportedly submitted his response to the PCB. 

Javed criticizes Babar Azam and Pakistan’s selection choices; gets trolled by Australians, and Englishmen

In the aftermath of Pakistan’s squad reboot midway into the Test series in England, Aaqib Javed criticised team captain Babar Azam and ousted head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed for not paying heed to his advice.

While speaking on Geo Sports, Javed stated that he had urged Babar Azam and Sarfaraz to include Ubaid Shah in the playing XI against England since he constantly clicks 140 kph. He also wanted someone like Ghazi Ghori in the team in place of senior wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan.

Claiming that Pakistan has become a laughing stock of world cricket, former Australian opener Usman Khawaja piled on Pakistan’s pain by mocking Javed with a brutal remark in the comments section on Instagram.

Nasser Hussain and Stuart Broad have also doubled down their attack on the ex-Pakistan player after chopping 7 players and 2 coaches overnight.

Former Australian fast bowler and ex-Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie also called out Aaqib Javed, blaming him for the team’s current downfall.
