Mohammed Siraj is on track to receive some crucial match time in New Zealand before India’s all-important Test series in the country. According to a report, the senior fast bowler will play for India A in their second unofficial Test match against New Zealand A later this weekend in Christchurch.
Several other Team India stars like KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal and Washington Sundar are already in India A squad for the unofficial Test series in a bid to prepare for the two senior men's Tests next month. Moreover, senior wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and legendary fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will also be joining the India A squad soon.
Mohammed Siraj to play second India A vs New Zealand A Test
As reported by Rohit Juglan from Revsportz, Mohammed Siraj has become the latest addition to the India A squad for the ongoing three-match unofficial Test series in New Zealand.
The senior Indian paceman will likely play India A’s upcoming second match of the series against New Zealand A, set to be played between October 31 and November 3 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Mohammed Siraj recently played two Ranji Trophy 2026-27 matches for the Hyderabad cricket team, against Tripura and Andhra this month. In four innings, the 32-year-old managed to collect just three wickets at an average of 28.33.
The fast bowler also played the final of the 2026 Duleep Trophy just last month in Chennai, conceding 187 runs across both innings of the match with just a solitary wicket to show for.
He last represented Team India in an ODI match against the West Indies in New Chandigarh, and last graced the Indian Test whites back in August this year during their two-match series in Sri Lanka.
Reportedly on track to play for India A, the experience of bowling on the Hagley Oval surface will certainly do Siraj a world of good before testing his skills against New Zealand batters in India’s must-win WTC Test series next month.
Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah to join India A squad soon
The report also indicates that fellow Indian cricketers Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah will also be joining the India A squad in New Zealand.
Just a couple of days ago, a report revealed that Pant has regained full fitness, and it is only a matter of time before he will receive his fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team to play for India A in their upcoming third unofficial Test in Lincoln next week.
Bumrah is also tipped to play the match, even though the senior paceman was not included in India A’s initial squad for the series.
As of now, it remains to be seen if Pant and Jasprit Bumrah will join Mohammed Siraj in the India A setup as the senior trio prepare themselves for the two-match Test series in New Zealand next month.
