Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has been in the headlines in the last few days for his unfiltered remarks during the T20 World Cup 2026. Be it his ‘slogger’ remarks for Indian opener Abhishek Sharma or the bold predictions about Team India that eventually backfired on him.

Recently, Mohammad Amir has launched a brutal attack on his own teammates, the former and current Pakistani cricketers. It happened when Amir was asked about the struggle of Pakistani players whenever it comes to speaking English during the conversations as international cricketer.

"It's not about English" - Mohammad Amir roasts Pakistan players' poor communication skills

During Geo News’ show Haarna Mana Hai, an English teacher in the audience didn’t miss her chance to throw a tough question Amir. “One can not hide behind the notion that ‘they are supposed only to play, not to speak english’, so, What is the reason behind our (Pakistani) players’ struggle in English?” the teacher asked Mohammad Amir.

Furthermore, Amir delivered a sharp reply, emphasising the importance of players’ confidence and pride in their mother tongue. He also referred to the football greats like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who always prefer to speak their mother tongue, even on the international forums.

“Focus on Urdu first, it isn't about English. The key is knowing how to answer the question, like Messi and Ronaldo, they speak their own language but always give the right answer," said Mohammad Amir.

Rashid Latif echoes Amir’s remarks

Furthermore, former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif, who was also present as a panellist on the same show, seconded Amir’s remarks. Latif also revealed an interesting fact about the Pakistan cricket team, known to only a few in the cricketing fraternity.

“It’s not only the problem with our cricketers, even the translator who goes with our team doesn't know proper English,” said Rashid Latif.

Notably, the concerns raised by Mohammad Amir and Rashid Latif have been seen in the Pakistan cricket team for the last couple of decades. Their key players, like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, have been seen struggling to speak proper English during the post-match conversations.

Mohammad Amir’s verbal spat with Ex-India star Mohammed Kaif

Just a few days back, Mohammad Amir drew the attention of the fans for his verbal spat with the former Indian cricketer and now the commentator, Mohammed Kaif. It all started when Kaif alleged that Amir was speaking about India just to gain attention in the media and on social media.

After Kaif’s ‘attention’ remarks, Amir retaliated with the stats and countered Kaif. “Mr Kaif, I have played 350 T20s; you can check my stats. I didn’t play only on the grounds,” said Amir, referring to Kaif’s brilliant fielding abilities and stating them as a reason behind his selection.

Furthermore, the former Pakistani speedster also taunted Kaif by asking him to thank Sourav Ganguly. Amir said that Kaif was given chances in the Indian team by the then skipper Ganguly just for the good fielding abilities.

Apart from this spat with Kaif, Amir also faced a brutal trolling from the Indian fans. The fans criticised him after his predictions of India’s defeats against the West Indies and against England in the semi-final went wrong.
