The India vs Pakistan game is set to be a high-octane contest in the T20 World Cup on Sunday, and ahead of the ‘greatest rivalry’ match, Pakistan has started to play mind games, a trait they have learned from the Aussies. Before the mega clash in Colombo, former Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir mocked Abhishek Sharma and gave a blunt verdict on him.
Abhishek has been India’s best T20 batter in the last 18 months and was also Pakistan’s worst nightmare in the Asia Cup 2025 as he tormented the Men in Green in two out of three matches.
Amir mocks Abhishek's batting technique as Pakistan gets scared of India batter
Ahead of the marquee clash, Pakistan cricket experts are scared of the India top-order batter, and recently on a talk show, Mohammad Amir was asked to give his viewpoints about Abhishek, and the former cricketer left no stone unturned to insult him.
"Honestly, he's just a slogger. His chances of failure are high. He’s not a technically sound batsman. It’s not difficult to tackle such a batsman if you bowl on the body line. He will also struggle against slow balls.
Amir was asked how he would tackle Abhishek, and the former Pakistan cricketer explained how the Indian batter might struggle when using the bodyline tactics, as he directly gave ideas to the Pakistan team on how to dismiss their nemesis on Sunday.
Why Pakistan is already scared of Abhishek Sharma
The explosive Indian opener has played thrice against Pakistan, and while he failed in the Asia Cup final against them, the southpaw punished the Men in Green in the remaining two matches.
So far, in 3 T20I matches against Pakistan, the star Indian batter has racked up 110 runs, with a strike rate of 189.66, including a solitary fifty as well.
His best knock against the arch-rivals came in the Asia Cup Super 8 clash in Dubai. The Men in Green scored a tricky 171 and they had the quality in the bowling lineup to disrupt India’s plans. However, Abhishek had some other plans as he came out all guns blazing.
Alongside Shubman Gill, he added 105 runs for the opening wicket, and Abhishel himself scored a stellar 39-ball 74 as Pakistan stood no chance against his brutal onslaught. This is the reason why most of the current, and ex-Pakistan cricketers fear India's best T20 batter.
Abhishek Sharma's participation unsure in Pakistan contest
Despite making all the plans and insulting Abhishek, Pakistan might not need anything, as Abhishek is doubtful for the marquee clash on Sunday. The player played the match against the USA with a high fever, and was also admitted to the hospital due to an upset stomach.
The player was discharged from the hospital, and Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav gave a subtle hint that Abhishek might miss a couple of games before he gets one hundred percent fit.
In case Abhishek misses out, India will miss his services, but the team has solid replacements who can trouble the Pakistan batters on Sunday.
