Two struggling sides will collide at the Wankhede Stadium as the Mumbai Indians will take on the Lucknow Super Giants in match number 47 of the IPL 2026. MI is mathematically still in the playoff race, but they need a miracle to achieve their target.

On the other hand, LSG have lost 2 out of 8 games, and the Rishabh Pant-led side cannot afford losses anymore. While their bowlers have done exceptionally well in the IPL 2026, the same cannot be said about the LSG batters, who have struggled for runs.

MI, on the other hand, has made too many changes in their playing XI in almost every game, and the form of Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav has not helped their cause. The Hardik Pandya-led side has nothing to lose, and they should go out and express themselves.

Ahead of the riveting MI Vs LSG IPL 2026 match, we take a look at the toss winner, and the changes made by the two teams.

MI Vs LSG IPL 2026 toss update

Mumbai Indians won the toss and surprisingly, Suryakumar Yadav, who is leading the team tonight has elected to bowl first. The stand-in captain stated that Hardik Pandya is unwell, and hence, won't play in the IPL game vs LSG.

Trent Boult is ruled out, and Corbin Bosch returns to the MI lineup; however, the biggest change is that Rohit Sharma returns to the lineup after recovering from the hamstring injury.

For LSG, Josh Inglis is making his debut, whereas Mukul Choudhary is excluded from the lineup after a string of failures.

MI Vs LSG: What the captains had to say

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians Captain): "We will look to bowl first. It looks good, looks humid tonight, no wind. In the last 2-3 games it got a bit better so need to take some advantage and give it to the bowlers.

[on Hardik's injury] Hardik is unwell so just getting into his shoes.

[team news] We have some changes. Corbin Bosch comes in for Trent Boult and our very own Rohit Sharma is back

[on the season so far] You can't run away from the fact, MI is not known to be in such positions. End of the day it's just a game. Put your hands up, have that pride and enjoy the game.

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "[Would he have done the same?] Yeah, we would have done the same. The wicket is good at Wankhede and any score can be chased here.

[How was the break and did it help?] Definitely. Lot of reflections. What we can do and not do as a team and as individual. It's been a tough season for me. But we know one thing about Sanjeev Goenka. Everyone knows how much he is passionate about the team. But more importantly, we have let our fans down. We will give our 200% today and bring that happiness back and give some love back to the fans.
