On Thursday, Mayank Yadav took a wicket on the very first delivery to mark his return to international cricket for India. To make it more significant, Brian Bennett, who made an unbeaten 59-ball 97 in the last India vs Zimbabwe T20I during the T20 World Cup 2026 in February at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

It was Mayank’s first international wicket since October 2024, the last match he had played for the country. The opposition was Bangladesh back then, where he took 2/32 in four overs in Gwalior.

After that, continuous injuries, coupled with bowling slumps, turned him from being the next big thing in Indian cricket into another individual among many who fail to live up to their true potential.

Mayank Yadav Makes Instant Impact For India

Even though Mayank took a wicket on the first ball on Thursday, it was not the first time he had done the same for India. In 2024 against Bangladesh, Parvez Hossain Emon was his victim in the same way.
