The IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium turned controversial after New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson gave an aggressive send-off to 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
While the moment drew criticism from fans, Kyle Jamieson has now spoken about the incident and Sooryavanshi.
Vaibhav Sooryavansh, who has been one of the standout performers this season, was dismissed for just 4 runs in the RR vs DC match. However, it was not the wicket but the celebration that grabbed headlines.
BCCI punishes Kyle Jamieson for his aggressive send-off
The turning point came in the second over of the match. After conceding a boundary, Kyle Jamieson responded with a perfectly executed yorker that beat Vaibhav Sooryavanshi completely and rattled his stumps.
However, what followed sparked controversy. Jamieson celebrated in an animated fashion, moving close to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and clapping in front of him.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later took note of the incident. Kyle Jamieson was handed a warning and one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
“Jamieson was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player in the match,” the BCCI stated in the release.

Breaking his silence after the RR vs DC match, Kyle Jamieson spoke to the BCCI.TV made a surprising admission about the pressure he felt while bowling to the young batter. The star pacer said he had rarely experienced such intimidation on the field, especially from someone so young.
“I don’t think I have ever been so fearful of a 15-year-old kid in my life,” Jamieson said.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has built a reputation for attacking from the very first ball. Just moments before his dismissal, he struck Kyle Jamieson for a boundary, continuing a pattern seen throughout the tournament. His aggressive mindset has made him one of the most talked-about players in IPL 2026.
Sooryavanshi has shown no hesitation in taking on elite bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah. His fearless approach has made him a crowd favourite and a constant threat at the top of the order.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's overall performance this season remains extraordinary. The young left-hander has already rewritten records, becoming the fastest player to reach 400 runs in a single IPL season, achieving the milestone in just nine innings.
It is important to note that the star player has scored 404 runs in 10 innings at an average of 40.40 and a strike rate of 237.65.
His best performance was against the Sunrisers Hyderabad when he played an aggressive knock of 103 runs in just 37 balls.
With this defeat against Delhi Capitals, the Riyan Parag-led team currently sits in fourth place on the IPL 2026 points table with 6 wins and 4 defeats. The team will next face Gujarat Titans on May 9 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
