Social media influence has real impacts on the living world, and celebrities and cricketers aren’t immune to that. Shubman Gill, among all the cricketers, made that feel heavy to Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowler Suyash Sharma.
The enmity on social media largely affects cricketers, and Shubman Gill made sure the war is on against Suyash Sharma after GT’s triumphant victory over RCB in the 42nd IPL 2026 clash.
What Happened Between Gill and Suyash Sharma?
Apparently, after Shubman Gill & Co. managed to pull off a solid win against the RCB at Ahmedabad on April 30 by 4 wickets, in the post-match greetings, when players of both teams shook hands with each other, Gill was seen avoiding Suyash.
While Gill was overenthusiastic to meet with Virat Kohli, who even roared at his face after Gill’s dismissal, the cameras on the ground saw Gill brush Suyash aside while ignoring the customary handshake.
Why Did Gill Refuse To Shake Hands With Suyash?
For the unaware, Gill was dismissed by Suyash in their previous meeting of GT vs RCB on April 24. In that meeting, Gujarat Titans lost the match with the GT skipper going out for just a 24-ball 32 courtesy of Suyash.
However, the dismissal was not the spark; the celebration after that was the last straw. As Shubman Gill’s trademark celebration is a charming ‘bow down’ in front of the crowd after reaching milestones, Suyash humiliated Gill with the same celebration.

Suyash Sharma bowed down in front of Gill after dismissing him to mock him after the wicket. To take the insult up by a notch, Suyash even posted the same picture on his official social media handle with the caption, “They strike, we strike harder!”
While there isn’t any confirmed reports on the reason behind the ‘no handshake’, this might be one of the primary causes as reported by X handle, @KOHLIdeGOAT.
Shubman Gill & Co. Going Strong In IPL 2026
Gill, though, was efficient in the win of GT in the recent encounter vs RCB. In the April 30 clash, Gill scored an 18-ball 43 before getting dismissed in the fifth over. The acceleration was then anchored by Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia later to secure the win at home.
As of the Gujarat Titans, they are one of the favourites to secure the playoff spot. Currently standing in the fifth position, the Titans have won five out of their nine matches.
Although they started off their campaign on a weak note, they bounced back soon enough to have a mix of hot and cold form.
So far, Shubman Gill has led the team well and with not many worrisome injury concerns, GT is well set to stamp authority if they continue their winning streak.
GT will next face the table toppers, Punjab Kings, at home in Gujarat on May 3 as the match is scheduled to begin from 7:30 PM IST.
